On 31-10-2008 davidcotton said : "This is without doubt the best food, service and quality in Derbyshire. Some so called gastro pubs that I could name, but wont, should go to The Spanker for lessons on how to do it. Fantastic home made food, reasonable prices, very nice staff and an owner who cares, nothing was to much trouble. The Spanker should win lots of awards"

On 11-7-2005 thedoctor said : "My partner and I had the spanker inn reccomended to us by a friend, and im going to shake his hand when next we meet. This is a wonderful pub with exquisite food and excellent atmosphere. The staff are very cheerful and helpful, giving a warm welcome as soon as you arive. A table was available mid week in the lovely dinning room, after only a few minutes wait. The standard of the meals was truly excellent and the portions are generous to say the least. A gem of a pub on my doorstep, and well worth many future visits."
