"We went to the Green Man as we arrived early for a flight from Stanstead (2-3 miles away), and were impressed. It is newly refurbished in a warm, welcoming, friendly style - a communal living room with good beer. The unique part though is the combination of the pub with an excellent tea and cake shop, complete with stuff designed to keep the kids amused. So, if we want both good beer and excellent hot chocolate, in the same place, this is it. Well done!"

"We left Hatfield Forest and wanted some lunch and this is an obvious location. We came in and we were met by a sudo friendly owner / manager who immediately showed concern that we had a child and a pram, he smiled through it but you could see he was not happy. Still he took our business.
We had to change our little one and there were no changing facilities (strange near such a big attraction as the Forest) and so we changed him on a proper mat on the floor out of sight of guests.
At the end he complained that I had changed my son on the floor, hygene etc, I understand but we were a) discrete and b) on a mat. He suggested the toilets. On to my last point, the toilets had no facilities, cold white, cracked germ filled, damp toilets - no chance! So when I said that to him he then said, thats why we dont really cater for children.
SO for those with kids - avoid this place - THEY DONT ACCEPT KIDS from the mouth of the manager.
The food was very average so would not recommend anyway, its a run down pub from the 70s."

"Looks good from the outside - seems to cater for locals mainly; premises not as clean as they should be; service acceptable but not very hospitable; food very average and rather costly; car park difficult to enter and exit especially if the customers have not parked considerately"

"Recently under new management, re-decorated inside and outside. Small local client group, much passing business, travellers through local international airport, or visitors to nearby tourist attractions.
Friendly staff/licensee and family, New and varied menus, main meals, bar snacks and daily specials. Small car park to rear, care needed on entry and exit."

"Usually quite a comfortable little pub. Best to avoid Sunday lunchtimes if you like space, a bit of quiet, and prompt service. Usually nibblies on the bar. Can't speak for the food, but it is served."
