The Rose and Crown came out with top marks, so we thought we would give it a try. We ordered drinks and enquired about what was on the menu – we were told that it was roast Sunday dinners until 3:00, when the full menu would be available. Sunday roasts suited us fine, I ordered turkey and my friend beef, pork was also available. While we were waiting, my friend took a call of her daughter who had read on her Facebook status that we were lunching in Flamborough – she told her to try the Rose and Crown as the food is really good, we were already sat at the table!! After a short wait, well presented roasts arrived; we were not disappointed the meal was excellent, with plenty of meat and a good selection of vegetables. I can highly recommend :-)"

THE PUB ALWAYS HAS FRIENDLY CLIENTELE MADE UP OF REGULARS, LOCALS AND TOURISTS.I WOULD RECOMEND YOU TO VISIT THIS PUB WHEN IN THE AREA. PLEASE PHONE THE PUB TO BOOK YOUR MEAL AS IT IS ALWAYS BUSY. The lager is always spot on, and the food is amazing. The service from Gerry Jan and all the staff is Brilliant, they and the locals alike are always very welcoming. I always go for sunday lunch when i'm in the village which is most of the time from March to October,Gerrys Sunday raffle is legendary with a great array of prizes. The pub is very dog friendly..which is great since I aquired a lovely little dog this year from one of the very lovely and friendly locals. So Gerry and Jan Cheers to your success and long may you rein at the Rose and Crown."

They have provided us with superb home-cooked food at a very reasonable price which is always beautifully presented. There is also a wide selection of real ales, wines and spirits on offer. The atmosphere at the Rose and Crown is always very friendly and the dining facilities are spotlessly clean. A lot of time and effort has been put in to achieve their success which is well deserved. A great pub!"

After a rather poor pint of lager we didnt fancy eating at the Seabirds and instead wandered across the road to the Dog And Duck.We were met with a friendly welcome and an improved pint of Carling.Whilst at the bar we overheard some other drinkers referring to The Rose And Crown a pub some where in the village recently refurbished and now serving great food.Although we had visited Flamborough before we had never seen The Rose And Crown. We decided to investigate further and asked for its directions. On the way to The Rose And Crown we decided to call in at The Ship just across the road from The Dog And Duck a pub we had visited on our last trip to the village.Although the lager was fine the welcome was somewhat frosty and whilst drinking in the very adequate beer garden the language from other guests was disgraceful. We decided to go back inside to finish our drinks. We left The Ship and walked to The Rose And Crown some 100 yards from The Ship on the central road through the village. The Rose And Crown had been recently repainted on the outside and looked quite inviting.Inside we were warmly welcomed. The bar was extremely busy with drinkers many of them locals. We were made very welcome by all at the bar who quickly made room for us to be served. We were served the best carling we had drunk for a long time.Although the pub was very busy with diners we were assured we would get a table within twenty minutes and sure enough we were soon sat down ordering our Sunday lunch. The food was superb and well presented and nothing seemed too much trouble for the young lady who served us returning twice to make sure all was well with our meal. The pub remained vibrant all afternoon and we stayed for the sunday raffle with prizes that were quite astonishing including meals bottles of wine beer and a cash prize. It was obviously very popular with the regulars. We were staying at The North Star for a week but we ended up eating and drinking at The Rose And Crown for the duration of our stay.We became friendly with some of the regulars who told us that the pub was now a free house and recently it had been purchased from one of the big pub groups by the landlord. They told us that the landlord had spent a lot of time and money improving the premises and from our experience it was money well spent. If your in Flamborough call in you wont be disappointed."

Try one of the many real ales regularly on offer. Wonderful food in a warm friendly environment. Have a go on the Sunday Prize Draw amazing prizes from bottles of wine to gallons of beer plus cash prize drawn at approx 3pm Sunday brilliant atmosphere all welcome."

On 30-7-2009 mentor said : "29th July 2009. We had planned to have lunch here because of a good previous review. What a shock - it is a dingy boozer and no-one was there at 12.00 (their designated opening time). No tables were set up for eating, but the worst feature was the strong waft of stale cooking smells which hit us as we walked through the door. Needless to say we walked straight out, and went to the Sea Birds down the road. Very good indeed - see separate review."

On 06-10-2008 nvo2 said : "I called at the Rose & Crown yesterday as Sunday lunch was advertised at £6.25. Reception was very friendly. I bought a faultless pint of Black Sheep bitter ( and subsequently another the same ) and chose roast pork. This has to have been my best lunch in living memory: quality meat; superb stuffing; the best homemade yorkshires and an array of vegetables fit for royalty. Everything cooked to perfection. I was even offered more vegetables; where else does that ever happen? I rarely post pub reviews but the entire lunch experience at the Rose & Crown really made my day. Pete & Joan took on the pub relatively recently, after it had been run down over preceding years, and havecreated a true pub atmosphere inside. Pete is retiring in January 2009, so you've got 3 months to get down there for top notch cask ale and food!!"
