"THE ARMYTAGE ARMS IN BRIGHOUSE WEST YORKSHIRE CONTINUES TO BE THE BEST DINING PUB THAT YOU COULD WISH FOR.
WHEN WE WALK IN WE ARE ACKNOWLEDGED AND EVEN THE STAFF THAT ARE NOT SERVING US ACKNOWLEDGE US,THIS IS VERY GOOD PRACTICE. THEY ARE ALL VERY WELL MANNERED AND LOOK HAPPY. THE MANAGER PAUL H
IS ALWAYS CHARMING AND HIS FRIENDLY LIVERPUDLION MANNER MAKES YOU FEEL RELAXED AND CHEERS YOU UP.HE IS ALWAYS PROFESSIONAL AND HIS DEDICATION AND ENERGY REALLY SHOWS AND IT IS OBVIOUS IN THE STAFF TEAM THAT HE LEADS BECAUSE THEY WORK WITH SO MUCH SYNERGY. THIS SYNERGY IS DEVELOPED BY A EXCELLENT MANAGER.THE MANAGER WORKS HARD AND YOU CAN SEE THAT HIS FOCUS IS ON CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. HE IS A HANDS ON MANAGER WHO I HAVE SEEN NURTURING NEW STAFF BY TRAINING THEM AT THE BAR OR ON TABLE SERVICE, HE IS PATIENT AND ENCOURAGING WHEN SHOWING THEM. THE ATMOSPHERE IS BUZZING AND VIBRANT IT IS MODERN BUT STILL RETAINS A TRADITIONAL FEEL.YOU CAN TELL HOW SUCCESSFUL IT IS BECAUSE YOU SEE THE SAME CUSTOMERS GOING BACK AGAIN AND EVERYONE I HAVE RECOMMENDED THE ARMYTAGE ARMS TO HAVE BEEN IMPPRESSED AND CONTINUE TO GO BACK.SO IT RETAINS ITS CUSTOMERS AND THAT SHOWS HOW GOOD IT IS.THE MEALS CONTINUE TO BE EXCELLENT AND ARE ALWAYS OF A HIGH STANDARD.THE FOOD AND DRINKS ARE EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. THE WHOLE PUB IS VERY CLEAN AND TIDY.STAFF CLEAN TABLES ENSURING THAT THEY ARE READY FOR THE NEXT CUSTOMERS.CONSEQUENTLY WHEN YOU PUT IT ALL TOGETHER A GREAT MANAGER WHO LEADS AN EXCELLENT STAFF TEAM, FANTASTIC VALUE FOR MONEY FOOD AND DRINKS AND SUCH EXCELLENT MEALS, A WARM AND FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE THEN THE ARMYTAGE ARMS IS THE IDEAL LOCATION. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

"I agree with most of the previous posts. The food is ok, cheap and cheerful.
Reasonable beer and wine prices including a couple of real ales.
Unfortunately the whole dining experience is ruined by the ignorant, arrogant attitude of the Manager. This manager is rude and in some instances downright insulting to both customers and staff. How this man manages to retain this position is beyond me. This does not extend to the rest of the staff who were polite, courtious and keen to help.
It is a shame but we will not return to this establishment again whilst this person is still the manager.

"Armytage Arms, Clifton in Brighouse.
The food is cheap and usually tasty however the manager/Landlord is appalling.
He speaks to his staff in a rude manner in front of customers. I was served by a trainee who was being trained by the landlord/manager who constantly picked at everything the girl was doing, he did this in front of me the customer making the trainee and myself feel very uncomfortable. Very unprofessional! Another time i was served by him directly and i were ordering food with my Mother and Niece. The food we ordered from the childrens menu was not available so he gave my Mother the menu to choose another option. My mother did not have her reading glasses with her and so took a while to choose, he rolled his eyes and huffed! I witnessed him do this so we decided to leave and not continue with the order. I really do not know why a few months later i returned, to find the same manager still running the pub and still as unprofessional as ever. I will never eat or drink at this pub whilst he is under management. Never again! I know others feel the same way also."

"The Armytage Arms in Brighouse I recommend. The menu is varied, there is definitely something for every one and it is good value for money.
The Bar Manager of the Armytage Arms is a vary likable presentable Liverpudlion who promotes a strong enphasis on providing first class customer service. He is obviously an effective Manager who leads a very well motivated efficient staff team.My observations are that the staff team are diligent, smart and polite and appear to work well under pressure.
The food is delicious. The steaks have been tender and cooked to melt in your mouth, the gammon is very good. The chicken in hot piri piri sauce is certainly tasty and tickles your taste buds. The chips are golden and plump what I call, "proper Yorkshire CHIPS"
Monday night is burger night. The burgers are good, the Aberdeen Angus burgers are flavour packed and succulent served in a big T cake and with those big chips.
Tuesday night is curry night. I recommend the lamb curry infact I found it tasted better than a curry I have had in an award winning curry restaurant.
If you have a sweet tooth or are blessed with a particularly hearty appetite,I recommend the chocolate fudge cake it is gargantuan and absolutely delicious, a chocoholics delight.
If you are looking for a pub with a relaxed atmosphere, good value for money food, plentyful portions served on warm plates, clean and tidy, friendly and attentive staff, then The Armytage Arms is the perfect place to go.

"We are a group of 4 very undemading senior citizens who eat out once a week. We look at various establishments for our meal. Recently we visited this Pub and had one of the worst experiences we've had since the luncheon club started some 3 years ago. The waiting staff were friendly enough but when we sat down initially we were told, in no uncertain terms, that we had to move because we had chosen the wrong area. Ordering the drinks became a bit of battle of whether we could catch the bar staffs' eye long enough for them to break off what other things they were doing. When paying, my card disappeared out of sight below bar level and I was given a surly comment about my not being robbed when I asked where the card had gone. Later ordering food went ok but I was told again in no uncertain terms not to speak when others were speaking whilst the order was being punched into the till. The food ranged from poor to mediocre. One piece of meat was so tough it was inedible. Due to the attitude of some of the staff we were not inclined to make a complaint. It is not the first time we have visited a Sizzlers establishment but we certainly will not revisit this place and we'll think long and hard before we visit a Sizzlers again. "

"Been to the Armitage Arms on several occasions & have to say that it is always busy despite (not because of) the landlords surly presence.
Food is pretty good value but waiting times are off putting, although the landlord seems to purposely exaggerate these as he seems to view customers as an uneccessary irritant.
The staff are generally pretty friendly although they seem to be embarrased at times by their unpleasant boss's behaviour.
Basically - decent pub spoilt by a landlord who's had a humour bypass operation!"

"When the Armitage Arms was taken over (by Sizzling Stake Houses), all existing customers were excited at the prospect of some well needed investment in our local pub. After our first visit, we were well impressed with the decor and the polite waiting staff. The food was nothing special but keenly priced and quite adequate.
Since then , we have made numerous visits to our "Local", and its been down hill all the way. The managers unwelcoming attitude to his customers, creates an uneasy atmosphere and leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Anyone calling in for a quick drink, might as well not bother, as the limited number of bar staff seem to be pre-occupied in taking orders for food and drinkers definitely come second. Notices are often displayed on the bar "Waiting times for meal orders" up to 1HR - 30 mins ."

"I recently visited this pub on a quiet Tuesday afternoon only to come out with one of the worst pub experiences i have ever had.
I walked in and the barman had his back to me and was on his phone, and by the time he had turned around to greet me and my partner, 10 minutes had elapsed.
He finally greeted us and served us our required drinks before walking off behind the bar to speak to a collegue without taking the payment. As we stood in disbelief for 5 minutes, a girl appeared and asked us if everything was ok? We replied with 'erm no, the barman has not only ignored us but has now dissappeared without taking payment for our drinks' as we were explaining this to her, the bar man re-appeared and took payment in a very rude manner, snatching the card machine out of my hands and showing no customer service skills or manners. We proceeded to sit down with our drinks, contemplating whether or not to walk out, as we were sat at our table, the rude barman approached us in an angry manner and proceeded to raise his voice at us by saying the pub was 'packed out' and 'what did we expect him to do' I would say that greeting a customer and serving him a drink, is not that hard of a task to do, especially if thats your job. I am a regular sizzling pub co. customer and have never experienced such rudeness, arrogance and un-proffessional service in all my time within them. 'Save The Great British Pub'? Good luck with that at the Armitage Arms! I, and as many people as i can rally, will never be visiting this pub again and if you have any sense, neither will you!"

"We went for a meal in January with friends for my birthday. The service at the bar was ok, The waitresses were friendly and helpful. The food was really nice and the 2 meals for £5 offer is very good for the price. I had steak with Jack Daniels sauce which was very tasty."

"The Armitage Arms at Clifton, Brighouse.
The menu is set, with no variation or deviation allowed. The food is not good; it gives the impression of pre-packed, simply warmed up fare. I was given the impression that I was a nuisance just by being there, by one member of staff. There is no one to complain to. All in all, I would not visit this pub again.
