"Disappointing visit. We have previously been to this pub when under different management, more than once, and enjoyed excellent meals.
It is now trying to be up market but unfortunately the food was not good enough.
There were six meals served to our table with very little evidence of vegetables, peas with fish and chips - fine, a mushroom and half a small tomato with a steak - ok. Several of us had a mixed leaf salad (no choice) which certainly looked pre packaged just like I would find in my local supermarket (I think this is vile stuff, what is wrong with a nice fresh lettuce!). The steak which was supposed to be rare, it was on the well done side of medium. Now anyone who enjoys a steak enjoys it cooked how they like it not differently, very simple for a chef I know, I am certainly no chef but can produce a rare steak if needed! Also disappointing were the chips which in fact were 'French fries', the name 'Farmers Arms' implies a hearty meal, certainly not the case.
Since this visit we have had a steak in two other establishments (one a chain) which were far superior and properly cooked, and considerably cheaper.
I am of the opinion that this pub is very over priced for the quality of food produced, It would be acceptable food at half the price."
