"I visited this pub in August as it has recently reopened, however looks and feels more like a wine bar than a pub, however the ale is very well looked after and served properly.
The choice of drinks and food is wide although over priced, the manager looked scruffy and tired and to have four staff on it took 10 mins to get served!!
Don't think I will visit again."

"The Royal Standard has been completely refurbished to create a modern, traditional pub (I realise that sounds a bit odd). It's owned by and stocks a variety of draught beers from the Derby Brewery Company www.derbybrewing.co.uk plus a couple of guest beers, a large variety of bottled beers, good selection of wine and fresh coffee. Smokers are well catered for in the courtyard and there is a non-smoking roof patio. Speciality is a rack of five beers (1/3 pint glasses) with cheese for a fiver. Good service, good beer and a good atmosphere."
