"Although I'm a Sassanach, I visit Glasgow from time to time.
Babbity Bowster is the best pub I've come across so far! Round the corner is Blackfriars, but each time I go there, although there are at least four real ales, none of them are suitable for a true session. (All too strong). Only this week at Babbity Bowster they had the usual Deuchers Bitter, a true good real ale. Their guest beer was Harviestoun Bitter & Twisted Ale, this is one of the best I've drunk in my short life.
In addition the staff are excellent and the food and accomodation are also very good. Saturday nights are fun with some good traditional live music.
There is also a top class restaurant upstairs at weekend."

"What a find! Stayed there 10 days during Celtic Connections and couldn't have wanted a warmer welcome. Owner and staff are amusing and friendly, as are the customers. Will definately stay there next I visit Glasgow. Three cheers for free houses and family businesses."

"It's great being able to sit in the beer garden supping a pint of real ale. This is a really good pub and one which I would recommend. The only criticism is that the beer prices are a bit on the steep side, but there again you get what you pay for."

"Fine bar in a small hotel. Food seems popular with just about everyone in the place having a plate of snap in front of them."

"Excellent Pub, bit difficult to find hidden away in Merchant City. Decent range of ales and friendly staff"

"Top pub with great hand pumped beer and cider, good food and even basic (but clean)inn accommodation. Plenty Celtic supporters on match days, with a very friendly atmosphere and it can get very crowded, especially when the folk music ensemble comes in and takes up a quarter of the bar. Despite that, it's well worth a visit. 8/10"

"This is a genuine find. Excellent pub with guest ales and a good selection of decent wines. The food is excellent in the bar and in the upstairs restaurant. The owner is an eccentric who says outrageous things to customers but can be quite amusing. The only negative is that the prices are a bit on the high side."
