"Visited late Feb 2013 and have to agree with others that the restaurant has improved immensely. Four of us went and had a lovely meal, much improved from our previous visit. Still a bit pricey but not really complaining as the food was really nice. Service good and again a big improvement on our last visit.
Real ales are good but, sadly there is a but, it was a weekend and football was on TV in the bar. The noise, youngsters and drunken behaviour comments from previous people also applied if you went in the bar.
Only visited again as the last couple of posts indicated things were on the up. They are but still a potentially good pub being spoilt by some of its bar customers. Owners / managers really need to get a grip on this as so much else has improved and this place could do so well."

"We have now been to the Kings Arms about 4 times over the January/February 2013 period and thought it was time that we should leave our comments.
We did read previous comments but with the knowledge that a new head chef was appointed sometime during December/January we were glad that we tried the Kings Arms. I would therefore suggest that you should only focus on comments posted as from January as clearly this place has changed.
On each of our four visits we have received a warm and friendly welcome at the pub. On my last visit I had "Fit for a King" starter and would suggest if you like steak then this is well worth trying. My son had the Kings Burger which was huge! My wife had the Fish Pie and myself and daughter both went for the steaks options, food was all excellent and the presentation first class.
It would appear that word and mouth is getting round about The Kings Arms as each time we have been to the restaurant it seems to be getting more and more busier.
Well worth a visit if you enjoy quality, affordable, tasty food, with huge portions!

"My family and I stopped off at this pub for lunch. We were the only ones in the pub, which given it was a hot day the dining room was really cold. The waitress was busy on her phone and the food was pub food, not as we expected given the prices and description of the food. We had to wait so long to be served a drink we went to the bar which was croweded with several people whom the staff were chatting to and completely ignored us. When we were eventually served, the barmaid told us that she was sorry it took a long time as they had to look after the locals!!! Lovely looking put inside but ignore at your peril - if you are not local. Interesting to see that the owner is not listed on the site - otherwise they could change the management!!!!"

"Visited mid December. Recently undergone an extensive refurbishment and resturaunt extension. Stocks a good real ale selection plus other beers, all seem well kept. Bar staff friendly and polite.
Ate in resturaunt - food was generally good quality although could have been better. Service a bit hit and miss and could be improved.
May have just been just the night we were in there, (Saturday), but the vast majority, (two thirds to three quarters), of drinkers in the bar area looked to be under 25yrs old - a number of which were obviously worse for the amount of drink they had consumed. Have heard this comment before about this pub and it did spoil the end of the night as it made my wife feel uncomfortable and nervous when we went to the bar area after our meal.
Would visit/eat there again but in no rush to go back. May try lunch time next rather than in the evening and also stay in resturaunt area and avoid the bar area if full of drunk youngsters again."

"I was there last Sunday, shortly after it had re-opened. I was very surprised and pleased to see the beautiful refurbishment so far. Beautiful deep rose walls and cream panels, a beautiful new bar area, super lighting, sash windows sorted and a lovely wood floor. I know there is much still to be done, but what a difference already. The folk musicians were great! The choice of beers were amazing!
This will make a great gathering (and eating place, (especially once the restaurant extension has been built) for the people of the village, plus bring in passing trade and holiday makers.
I wish the pub the very best.
Further updates on my next visit!"

"I think Sheeba is speaking a bit out of turn, to my knowledge there is no other pub in the area that sells its beer, their selection of real ales is second to none which he changes weekly so there is always a surprise waiting for you when you visit.
It is a bit of building site at the moment but when its finished in the next few months it will be amazing.I have no hesitation recommending The Kings Arms and whilst previous incumbants may have be lax in dealing with under age drinkers etc the problem has been completely eradicated by the new landlaord and lady and it is a pleasure to drink there."

"I was i there on Friday 12th November 2010 I'd be happy to recommend the pub (and it's Landlord) to any one I know.
The staff are friendly and the pub has a lively atmosphere. I haven't tried the food yet but the reports I've had have been complimentary of the 'Sunday Lunch'
I can't comment on the 'opening' issue but I've never had any difficulty getting in!
Also the pub seems to have a clear zero tolerence policy on drugs use (signs state quite clearly that the use/exchange of drugs in and around the pub will not be tolerated) so if there is an 'issue' it seems to have been being deal with.
All in all it seems to be developing into a good 'village' pub and as such deserves all the support it can get."

"The Kings Arms - Since new owners have taken over
When I went by this morning about 9 am it was open but at about 11 am it was shut. That is no way to run a business especially when they are advertising to be open from 7.30 am.
There was also a smell of drugs in the doorway the last time I was there - I might be wrong.
The drinks are more expensive than some other local pubs.
Hopefully they will improve but until then not recommended.

"This is a great pub, last time I went was during the summer and they a big marquee out the back, and they continued to serve and be polite to some rather trollied muppets."
