"I fancied a pint while out xmas shopping late one afternoon. I ventured into the Old Cock, a pub id passed many times but never ventured in. My immediate impression was what a dark dingy place. There was one other customer chatting to the barman.
Unfortunately the choice of Bitter was limited to 1! John Smiths. So I had a pint of that fairly quickly and left.
I understand this is now a live music venue some evenings. Perhaps that is what it is concentrating on now. Its certainly isn't a particularly pleasant place if youre looking for a pint in nice surroundings. I won't be returning!"

"JUST OUT OF INTEREST FOR THOSE OF YOU VISITING HALIFAX. THIS HAS A BEAUTIFUL OLD ROOM UPSTAIRS WHICH I HOPE IS STILL THERE AND INTACT,,,,, A CRIME IF IT IS NOT. IT IS SAID THAT THIS ROOM IS WHERE THE HALIFAX BUILDING SOCIETY STARTED AND THE HALIFAX OMNIBUS COMPANY. THE AMAZING STAIN GLASS WINDOW IS ONE OF THE LARGEST I HAVE SEEN IN A PRIVATE (NOT CHURCH) BUILDING. IT WAS HIDDEN FROM VIEW FOR DECADES AS AN EXTRA FLOOR WAS INSTALLED FOR WHATEVER REASON ,,,, IT IS CALLED THE OAK ROOM. WHILST THE PUB WAS CLOSED SOME YEARS AGO THE HANGING CRYSTAL LIGHT AND THE FIREPLACE WERE STOLEN AND I BELIEVE THEY WERE RECOVERED FROM AN ACTION HOUSE JUST BEFORE BEING SOLD (MAYBE LONDON). THE UPSTAIRS ATTIC STILL HELD SECRETS FROM THE EARLY 1900'S IN THE 1980'S ,,,,LETTERS ETC LEFT BEHIND BY THE STAFF THAT LIVED UP THERE COMPLETE WITH A SMALL FIREPLACE (SO DANGEROUS IN A WOODEN LOFT). THE TWISTS AND TURNS OF THE OLD PLACE UPSTAIRS AFTER IT STOPPED BEING A HOTEL WERE VERY GHOSTLY,, SO MUCH SO THAT MY GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG USED TO GROWL AT SOME OF THE ROOMS AT NIGHT. I REALLY HOPE THAT WHOEVER RUNS THIS PUB NOW HAS THE INTEREST TO LOOK INTO IT'S HISTORY AND SHARE IT. SO,,,,, YOU SEE,,, THIS NOT JUST ANY "OLD COCK",, IT IS A TREASURE THAT SHOULD LOOKED AFTER. SOMEONE SAID IT IS A PUB TRYING TO BE SOMETHING ELSE,,,,,, IT IS NOT ,, IT IS SOMETHING ELSE BEING USED AS A PUB. "
