In summer, the west aspect allows one to enjoy the afternoon sun with a pint and take in the views of the glaven valley. If you are looking for a chelsea style wine bar with chelsea prices, this isnt it. Dog friendly."

What a disapointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it a shallow filled, with soggy pastry, a reheated excuse for a traditional pub dish. We would not recommend it."

On 02-10-2011 peewit said : "Had lunch here last week whilst doing family history research at the nearby church. From the outside it looks like an old traditional village pub sitting by the edge of the village green. Inside also very traditional and you would expect a warm welcome from the staff. WRONG - Landlord is the rudest person I have ever met. Thank you is a phrase unknown to him. Food just OK - It was a hot day and after being in the sun in the church yard we went back about 4pm for a drink before the 35 mile drive home. Landlord and a local standing in the doorway of an empty pub smoking and not happy for us to order drinks so he had to leave his mate - avoid at all costs"

On 14-8-2011 fflic said : "Stopped for a quick refreshment on cycle ride to Stiffkey. The bar man barely acknowledged me when I asked for a drink. It seemed to be a complete effort for him to even be bothered to serve me. I handed over £20 and he only gave change for £10. When I pointed this out he grudgingly gave the correct change but no word of apology. Couldn't wait to leave. The worst pub I have ever been in. Do not go there and waste your money unless you are curious to see how bad it really is. I imagine it will be shut down in a year or two due to lack of customers."

On 29-5-2011 xxzarr said : "Staying locally and thought I would have a pint before my meal. A pint, J2O, G&T and a bag of crisps came to £12.50. Served by the surliest barman on earth. Even comments on tripadvisor said the barman was up for the surliest barman of the decade award. Place was clean and typically a village pub. But why oh why do owners who must know that they have crap staff continue to employ them. Unless of course..... It doesn't do anyone any favours for tourism industry in the UK"

On 29-4-2011 kissycat1 said : "Went to the 3 Swallows yesterday, the last day of my holiday, what a disappointment! The staff didnt smile, the food was plonked on the table, no one asked if we wanted dessert when removing the plates, no one asked if we wanted more drinks whilst eating our meal, no one actually bothered to do anything. When we entered the pub we were greated with a grunt and we seemed to be bothering the man behind the bar rather than helping him with trade. The other staff looked annoyed and unhappy - what a dull and dreary bunch of people. Yes, I know its "just a pub" but good service costs nothing. The food wasnt up for much either, if I wanted a micro-wave meal i would have gone to Ice-land. If it was fresh food they did a really good job of hiding it. "

I am amazed at some of the comments on this page as we all find the food, service and atmosphere just right. Okay if they are very busy food can take time to arrive but at least the staff forwarn you. My family are very happy with the baked potatoes and lasagne and I love the sausages, steaks and pies. We were in the area from 26th of July until 6th August possibly at the same time as the last reporter and I couldn't disagree more withy the comments. A place worth a visit. "

On 22-8-2010 zabriskie said : "We live local to Cley and since we had friends staying with us for the weekend we thought we'd try The Three Swallows as we'd never been there before. A very disappointing experience all round and i was embarrassed for my guests. Firstly we ordered drinks from the bar-woman who showed impatience when we took more than a few seconds deciding what drinks to buy. It must have literally been 2 seconds of thinking time. Take the drinks to our table and my J20 is warm, mainly because it had been taken from the display and not from the fridge. The food arrives and the girl who brought it simply dumped it on the table without any smile. She looked about as unhappy as someone who works in a well-know fast food store. The food itself was the worst part. The Haddock batter was completely inedible. Like it had been cooked in rancid oil. It tasted burnt and left a terrible aftertaste. The scampi was overcooked and had the same rancid taste. Do they ever change the cooking oil i wonder? We complained to the woman who appeared to be in charge and we were offered a refund for some of the food with a 'what do you want me to do?'. She apologised but it wasnt very sincere. Overall terrible customer service and food. Will never go again. Nor recommend it. I dont know who is in charge but poor service, poor product and unhappy work force always comes down from the management. So someone seriously needs to consider a different career or maybe Gordon Ramsey should do his magic?!"

On 30-12-2008 jacqueline said : "Yes, keep telling the story about the 3 hours to microwave a jacket potato and then no-one will uncover the secret of the best fresh Sea Bass risotto this side of Milan...not to mention all the other wonderful food in this unposhed pub. It's good to leave great alone! "

On 15-4-2008 noel103 said : "We were originally put off visiting the Three Swallows by the reviews in August 2007 and also the fact that a table could not be booked in advance. Following a recommendation by friends we decided to try it and we were not disappointed. We arrived 30 mins earlier than we would normally in order to get a table. The menu had a great choice and we settled for lamb shank and battered haddock which were very tasty, very well presented and excellent value. The service was good and friendly and the pub is in a lovely area of North Norfolk. "

On 30-1-2008 surrrey_birder said : "In contrast to the previous reviews of this charming pub, which appear to be written by the same party, I found the service here to be very efficient and very friendly. The ale was very fine and my meal, chosen from a mouth-wateringly tempting menu of fresh and local ingredients was delivered promptly and was delicious. Highly recommended. "

On 13-8-2007 jroddis said : "This pub looks very attractive and is in a pretty location. The garden is lovely. However the service is appalling and when we dared to enquire whether our meal was ready after nearly two hours, we got a very rude answer. In the end we left, but as it was the last evening of our holiday in Norfolk, we felt bitterly disappointed, not to mention starving! It was nearly ten o'clock by this time and we ended up having cheese and biscuits. "

On 12-8-2007 slowne said : "I have been going to the 3 Swallows for the last 10 years, when holidaying in north norfolk, but I will not be going again. The barman was rude and grumpy - desperately in need of attending a refresher course in friendliness and smiling - we then had to wait 1.5 hours for food and when it finally arrived it was v. disappointing. The saddest jacket potato with cheese you had ever seen (microwaved) and crab cakes which had never seen a crab, only the inside of a supermarket freezer. Such a shame but with a choice of some great pubs near by, there is absolutely no reason to go there again - only when there is a change in management (and chef). "

On 12-8-2007 johnfromsheffield said : "Funny place The Three Swallows - positioned on a pretty green with a pleasant garden, which has had a lot of time spent on it. Even so the pub welcomes dogs and is very child friendly - overall pretty good - on the surface. But there's another story. After waiting over an hour for a jacket potato (microwaved) and some fishcakes (factory mass produced) we asked if there was any chance of seeing lunch before 3pm. This seemingly harmless enquiry received an pretty off-hand "what's it to you" response. We were then treated to the vision of the kitchen staff having a sit-about & bit-of-a-chat with their mates in the garden. Two hours between arrival and departure for a quick jacket potato lunch - too long - no point in talking to the landlord, he didn't care. We left with the impression that this publican seemed to think there are plenty more punters who'll walk in the door so why bother with looking after the ones that are there. They have already paid, so what if they complain! Do yourself a favour & go to the Wiverton Bell. It's only a mile away but is miles better in service, food quality, attention to detail and interest in the people who are footing the bill. "
