When I proceeded to complain about the poor food I was served, the truculent and offensive 'manager' began to argue with me. She culminated in saying there would be no refund, or any other form of recompense, and walked away!!

"Dropped into this pub when on holiday - as a real ale man I was confronted with a bewildering array of hand pumps. Full complement of Jenning's plus several guests including one of my favourites - Hobgoblin. How did that get into the Lake District?
Good quality pub grub.

"Me and my girlfriend used to stay here when we were in keswick. accomodation for such a reasonable price. sadly they stopped doing accomodation, reasons being i don't know. Great breakfast in the morning also. nice friendly pub.

"Very cosy pub, quite small but great on winter nights just relaxing by the fire. Real ale is kept well, always get a great pint especially the Robinsons Unicorn. Beer is reasonably priced for this type of area also. Food is typical pub grub but it's always good and you get good big portions. Staff are friendly and professional and there is a good m ..."

"We called in in July 2008 after many years gap.
The range of Jennings real ales was superb and
they were in excellent condition.
The meals menu looked a bit "chefy" but they were superb and great value. This is top of the list for a return visit. Get there early as it fills up quickly. ..."

"A very average (chain style) family pub which, despite it's name, doesn't allow dogs in. The food isn't exactly poor, but the kind of stuff you'd expect in a Brewers Fare or similar. Drop down into the town centre and try a real pub instead. ..."
