"They lost our booking made several weeks in advance. They were very unhelpful when arrived even though we only wanted a quick lunch. We left!"

"Very friendly pub with great staff. Easy access by road and from the Oxford canal. Food was outstanding when we ate here a few days ago. Thoroughly recommended"

"Andy took over in December 2009. He owns a narrow boat. This is important for a pub that is side on to a canal.
Previous landlords took out the boaters bar and turned it into a very expensive eatery which tended to disregard the boating community.
Andy has now turned it back into a proper canalside pub. The fire places are soont to be reopened which will give the place a greater warmth.
The food is top class I have eaten there may times in recent months and have never been disappointed. It is not as expensive as the other Thrupp pub.
The staff are pleasant and efficient. Dogs and muddy boots welcome.
The gents was refurbished earlier this year and has to be seen to be believed. "

"We had a meal last Saturday Oct 30 2010 at this pub. Staff very nice and friendly. My brother in law and I opted for the childrens meals/small appetites menu. We both had the cod and chips. These came first and were excellent and extremely good value. My husband and son opted for the burgers but were disappointed in the size of the burgers. Overall food and service very good. Would definitely go there again."

"We went there on Easter Monday and only had a choice from 50% of the menu. The Linguine tasted of water with cream (supposed to taste of carbonara). No cheese was served with it. The cuttlery was delivered 2 to 3 minutes after the meal (outside!), the side salad was forgotten. When the side salad turned up it was tiny and limp (salad was returned and they told us they'd run out of lettuce, so no substitute). We returned the linguine and got the same back after 5 min. with the comment it had been cooked by the manager personally this time (very unlikely, if you ask us). Some, but very little parmesan was added, and maybe some tiny amount of salt, other than that nothing had changed. Very disappointing, but we didn't have to pay for it.
Some months ago we were served a baked potato, which wasn't cooked completely.
Last time we've eaten there, but still might sit and have a drink, as location is beautiful and clientele nice."
