"My wife and I had lunch there today - Wonderful! Pub was spotless, and the landlord (sorry, I never got his name) was welcoming and helpful. The only real ale I can comment on (until I can afford to go there by taxi!)was Adnams Broadside (Southwold). It tasted just as I remembered it from my holiday next door to the brewery. Food was excellent (pate & whitebait, followed by T-bone steak and shepherd's pie - both daily specials) Very good value!
One query - I used to go there for lunch 45 years ago (Just moved back to the area)and I thought it was called "The Bull" then. Can any member confirm or deny this?

"I have been to this Pub 4 or 5 times now ,and every time the service and quality of food has been first class . I noticed that the review of 2005 said that the service was poor , but I know that the landlord has been replaced twice since then. So why not give it another go. The beer is good and the log fire really sets the whole place off."

"I took some friends on Friday evening and we had a really good meal. There was a good selection and they had some great specials as well as a special 2 course meal for £9.95. The atmosphere was great as they had a lovely open fire making it cosy and warm as well as many candles being lit. The waiting staff were friendly and attentive. All in all a great night and we will definitely go back again over Xmas as we hear that it looks magical with their traditiional decorations. "

"I have eaten here on quite a few occasions. The experience is always a pleasure, the food is lovely with large portions, the staff are friendly, helpful and always give service with a smile. I went in lunch time recently and they have started a new 2 course lunch menu for £7.95, this was lovely again, the food was outstanding, very good portions and fantastic value for money. At Xmas we went in for a meal and the decorations were stunning and in keeping with the pub/restaurant TRADITIONAL!! This 16th century treasure is a delight and I would highly recommend anyone to go visit and try for themselves you wont be disappointed."

"A beautiful country pub with loads of character and wonderful log fires. We went over Xmas and the xmas decor was like a fairytale - very tasteful. Noticed there had been a bad review on this place, but our experience was great. We had a first class meal, very friendly service and since then have received a money off voucher to return in January. We will definitely be going back"

"awful customer relations - after we had our main course we were ignored in favour of the staff taking a long phone call - after a long wait to just get the dessert menu, let alone order, we complained to be greeted by a foul and abusive verbal tirade from the owner who was threatening towards us and told us where to go in no uncertain terms while also using ignorant gestures. A wait would have been understandable if it was busy, but as we were the only people there it seemed bizarre. On leaving we spoke with other people going in and it appears this may not be the first such outburst in the establishment (that is purely on what we were told but have not witnessed). It was a pity as the food was good (compliments only go to the chef), beer was nice and the pub itself is homely - it's just a big dissappointment that the owner let the place down so dramatically. This was our experience, I would avoid the pub but feel free to make up your own minds on it."
