...i can however say that the people who have taken it on have made some excellent decisions....the product range is broad and the staff are knowledgable and friendly, and not pretentious in the slightest...some off-the-beaten track music performed here including ambient DJs, and the tapas bar is an excellent example of diversification. My favourite aspect of the pub, however, HAS to be the beer garden...lovely outdoor lighting and heaters, comfortable furniture and an excellent array of plants and ornaments have turned what would otherwise be a drab concrete 'garden' into my summer beer garden of choice. highly recommended for socialising with friends."

It's now almost hip, with a DJ on Saturdays, live music on Thursdays, a bring-your-own tapas bar upstairs and an incredibly glam barmaid. It's much more popular now and is attracting an easygoing crowd of mainly young and middleaged folk, including many people who seem to be refugees from the Gregson. Slightly off-putting blood-red decor and light fittings from the age that style forgot, but nothing too unbearable. "
