The pub its self is a bit scruffy, table and chairs are a bit worse for wear The food -we had fish chips and peas with a cup of coffee for £4.25 which was excellent and more than good value. We have been several time since then we come all the way from Garstang just for fish and chips they are the best. I donít know what the beer is like ,never tried it and donít what the pub is like in the evenings ,but the lunch time special great "

In Lancaster this week and suggested we go, my colleague said not to but we did anyway. Oh my word, what has happened? Lets face it, the pub has always had problems, mitchells refuse to spend money wisely on refurbs and their toilets are second only to the legendary hustle for horrificness especialy at night. But where is the good food and the nice people, we might as well have gone to the nags head. I was a bit shocked and downed my wine pretty quickly so we could leave. I assume the village idiots are in residence now, so i'll give it a miss. Don't know if they still do entertainment, but lunchtime does not bode well."

DHSS staff used to come in under cover to catch dolies working on the side. It still looks tatty and negelected. Mitchells' distinctive "Your Mum" furniture - dark wood and fabrics sporting swirly patterns last seen in a nursing home in Eastbourne in 1987. There's a big TV, silently telling us of the misery and wars all about us, and the ceiling is littered with lamps, speakers and other customer-deafening devices. The soundtrack yesterday afternoon consisted of Abba, the Everly Brothers, Depeche Mode, and some cod-Irish Paddywhack tosh involving a girl from Cavan Town. Mitchells are having a "beer festival" (bless them!) featuring beers which you can get all the time anayway. I had an acceptable pint of Flat Cap @ 2.95 (which, btw, is on permanently, in better condition, served by livelier staff, with infinitelt better music, for 5p less, at The Pub), but as Paddy twanged his guitar in his interminable pursuit of the girl from Cavan, I couldn't see the slightest reason to stay for a second pint, so drank up and left."

On 22-1-2010 andylaaa_ said : "Fibbers is a lively pub, one which i've enjoyed many a night in! i wouldnt say im a regular but i've been in there most weekends and its always been a good atmosphere! i feel standards in the pub have dropped recently, this might be because there;s been changes in the staff, and some of the veteran members have left? but im not too sure! what i am sure of, is the staff that have worked their for a while, deffinatley know how to "pour" a pint.... worth a look in if your out and about round lancaster on the weekends."

On 12-7-2009 dan_82 said : "I was a bit hesitant to leave a review after the last person who commented said the customers were scrubbers, but here goes! I often go to Fibber McGees because it is one of the most friendly bars in Lancaster. Having lived in Lancaster for the past 7 years Ive been to most of the pubs and bars around. Fibber's is a little gem. Yes the toilets are in need of some tlc, and its tatty in places, but the atmosphere and decent music (day - 60's type stuff, and night - a DJ) really makes up for it. Ive had food here a few times and its always been good, but usually I pop in here during the day for a glass of wine whilst my wife's out shopping. Back in the day this was not a particularly great place because yes...some of the customers were not great. However now id say its a real community pub and I get the impression they've worked quite hard to get rid of the undesirables and give it a bit of a face lift. I don't think unnecessarily offensive comments do anyone any good, and I think the last comment says more about the person writing it than this pub. Its a real mixture of people who seem to go in here, from early 20's to 80+ years. The selection of drinks are much of a muchness, but I do know that their Guinness, some wines, and whichever ales they have on (I think they change them round quite often) are usually particularly good. I get fed up of pubs in Lancaster who aren't your massive chains like wetherspoons etc getting panned. With places like Fibber's you get a nice pint, good food and a friendly people to chat to. To me thats what a good pub is about."

On 26-1-2009 barker80 said : "i think mitchells staff have been rating this pub!!! the place is a joke the customers are scrubbers and the staff cant even poor pints. But tho he's cheesy dj marcus aint a bad guy his brand of cheese suits this venue"

On 25-9-2008 pubcrawl2008 said : "Called into this pub last week for drink, not a bad place."

On 24-7-2008 graceg said : "This is a really great pub. The staff are always really helpful, friendly and just the sort to pick you up on a bad day. I often go here for lunch on my lunchbreak at work with a few friends. As a small group of women I find this pub very non-threatening and comforting to eat. Over the last few years the quality (and quantity!!) of the food has been on the increase. They dont do fancy, but they do great homemade pies, chips and gravy. If you go for something lighter such as a sandwich or baguette they come with a really nice little side salad and always look yum. The best thing they do there (besides the huge portions of everything you know you shouldnt be eating!!) are the melt baguettes which are your choice of filling with melted cheese over the top....never been anywhere else that does them quite like this!! Have been in on a weekend evening and it was very busy and definately not for those looking for a quiet drink and chat. If you fancy dancing around like a crazy person this is the place - young or old, everyone mixes and won't stare if your over 40! Decent mix of music too. Massive contrast to the calm atmosphere of a day time. Although Ive never been on a weeknight I have been told its much the same as during the day....pretty chilled and relaxed atmosphere. The decor of this pub however makes it look a bit dingy and the toilets are very tired looking. Having said this, this shouldnt put you off a trip here! This is not a pub for fine dining. This is a good old fashioned place where the chirpy welcoming atmosphere, that is sadly lacking from many pubs now, is well and truly alive. If your looking for good traditional pub grub which'll be served in lovely big portions, and a great atmosphere (mainly due to the lovely staff who alone make this pub worth going to) this is definately the one for you!"
