"C'est formidable! They came over and served us at our table the other night. I started speaking in French as the English usually find decent customer service quite a struggle, but then I blinked and I realised that I was in fact still in Lancaster.
This is rapidly becoming a favourite of mine. Superb Coniston Bluebird, chatty, friendly bar staff, lovely coal fire and cling-film wrapped butties behind the bar. Totally pretension-free, and (fingers crossed) as yet undiscovered by men whose underpants are visible over their trousers and who drink things which appear in colours which do not occur in nature.
So nice to see a much-loved but terribly neglected friend get the care and attention she deserves. "

"The refurbishment is great! There seems to be loads going on. There is a combination of new and old with poker nights and real ale, a massive beer garden and BBQ, what more do you need? "

"So so sooooo much better than it used to be.
Its all been refurbished inside and out, the beer garden is about a hundred times better than it was.
Its clean, staff are friendly and helpful, there's cask ales as well as your usual range of lagers and bitters, spirits, coffees and even milkshakes.
The food is absolutely gorgeous and very reasonably priced. A big range too, from sharing platters, to buy one get one free on roast dinners, to ice cream sundaes!
I would recommend for all. :)"

"Fine long pub made longer by large beer garden at rear. Large screen TV and pool table to back of pub. Bombadier on draught."

"Good beer range, but it's been done in this weird pinkish decor, not the friendliest staff and it still looks really rundown despite the refurbishment."

"I do enjoy the selection of beers although some of the staff our less desirable and could be more friendly!!!!!"

"This is very much a "work in progress". I worry a little about the design of the interior - bright and gauche does not always mix well with real ale and "traditional" customers. But we will see..."
