"Surprisingly(!) the Wagon is up for sale, though judging by the blurb on the brewery's website, don't believe everything you read - "The cosy traditional bar offers roaring real fires"."

"I happened to pop into the Wagon and Horses earlier this evening. There was a quiz on, but they seemed a friendly bunch. ;-). It was nice to see one of the proprietors behind the bar for a change."

"Mick Hoyle is getting "Jailed" - just seen a poster in his 'pub'.
You can either contribute towards his 'bail', or you can pay to keep him incarcerated.
Either way, it's all in a good cause - http://www.cancercare.org.uk/.
Please pop into the pub and donate as you wish!

"This was a really nice old pub, with a roaring log fire in winter, an ancient lino floor, red originally but black with age in the bar area, a selection of Robinson's excellent beers and a feeling of a proper traditional boozer. Since its recent refurbishment, however, it has sadly lost the charm that it once had. It now looks like any fake-old chain pub. The drinking area is now much bigger, with television screens showing the usual sport, stripey seating that seems more coffee-shop than pub, split logs piled up in the niche next to the fake-coal gas fire, with some stock "heritage" stuff hung on the walls. If you want an old pub (and many of us do) what's wrong with the real thing? On the plus side, there's still the lovely Robinson's, though what first strikes the eyes on entry are all the shiny lager pumps, and I'm told the food is good. Staff are polite and friendly, too. Overall, though, I'm sorry to have lost a real old-fashioned pub in favour of a fake-old-fashioned one. I'm off to the Three Mariners."

"Happened upon the wagon and horses on a stroll down the quay and was blown away by this friendly and attractive pub, booked a meal with some friend for a few days later and was once again astounded I had Grilled sardines to start which were beautifully cooked and presented, the hot pot main courses was nothing short of sensational and the sticky toffee pudding left me feeling warm inside and fortified for the brisk walk back along the quay/ an altogether superb establishment !!!!!!!!!!! "Greatest quiz nights ever. Best live bands ever.
An absolutely awesome pub, and not 30 seconds stroll/stagger from my flat. Top notch."

"I had the absolute pleasure of listening to a great acoustic set this evening by Billy and Jonah. OK, the pub was not that busy, but the music was 1st class. I doff my cap to whoever organises the bands to play at this pub - it is certainly very rare that a band that plays at the Wagon is not good."

"On the Sunday the 11th of September 2005, the Wagon and Horses are having a charity day in aid of Lancasters Macmillan Unit.
PubUtopia is please to lend it's support to this event by publicising it via it's website.
Breakfast will be served from 10-12pm and from 3pm food (donated by the french restaurant 'Quite Simply French') will be up for sale.
They have a late licence, raffles and auctions on the day.
The DJ 'Rob the Gob' will be performing ... who can forget his last visit when he set fire to some of his hair near his 'personal areas' (thats the best way I can put it without being to rude).
Some ale and bottled beer will be on sale on the cheap, and all staff are working for free on the day.
Please support this event if you can."

"The addition of mirrors and pink walls makes this an interesting time for the historically best pub on the key. I hope the new team there get it right, in fact I am sure they will. They just need to getting rid of the bar scum. Put the prices up, and be particullarly rude to the ignorant locals who are constantly reminding them of where they are going wrong, and how much better it used to be! Only then will others come down the key on a more regular basis. "

"I'm very sorry to say that the landlord, Dave, is leaving the Wagon. I spent last night in the pub, and it really was a great night, both for the regulars and guests. The end of an era ... but watch out for the leaving 'celebrations' next weekend. Cheers Dave - you'll be sorely missed. ;-)"
