On 17-7-2011 wildwillie said : "Checked out the George early Saturday evening & had a very pleasant pint of Taylor's Best Bitter in comfortable surroundings whilst able to admire the ornate Victorian frontage of the LGI opposite."

On 05-8-2010 pintplease said : "This place has gone down hill since I last visited 2 years ago. The management has changed and with it the quality of the beer and cleanliness of the place. I called in early Friday evening, there was not many customers. There was loud music playing which sounded louder in an hollow empty pub, there was an unpleasant drain smell coming from behind the bar. There were a small group of four men and a women stood at the bar who were obviously worse for wear. Effects of too much drink reflected in their loud voices which were at shouting level, whilst using language better suited to a factory. I looked to see if the woman behind the bar would warn them about their conduct but no she joined in the banter with them. My first pint was warm so thought the second should be a bit better, the barmaid was talking on a mobile phone and was more interested in that than serving me. I caught her attention and she commenced to pull me a pint while still talking and holding the phone to her ear in one hand and my glass in her other hand. She somehow hooked her arm round the wicket, trapping it in her elbow joint and then in a strange disabled fashion half turned, half crouched leaning backwards pulled the pump down. She did this several times whilst I watched in amasement as she filled my glass. After this demonstration of double jointed muscular contortions and off balance versatility my second pint was no better than the first and at £2.70 I decided it was my last. She was still talking on the phone when I left. "

The beer is usually kept to a high standard and is immediately changed if you take it back for any reason. The only draw back is the price, itís a bit above average. "
