" The Golden Lion used to be a dump years ago but the current owners have transformed this pub. It's always smart and tidy and it's the best pub for miles IMOHO. Well done John and Debra who always offer a friendly welcome. Indeed, all the barstaff are friendly and welcoming. This pub usually has 3 or 4 hand-pulled ales on, which are well kept, and offers good cheap barfood on a Mon-Fri lunchtime, and a good Sunday Lunch on a Sunday. Leeds Brewery beers usually available, and others I've had here are Bombardier, Old Hooky, and Black Sheep. No blasting juke box in this pub. Instead, there's quiet background music of all types. The boisterous will not like this quiet haven, but it suits me fine. There is a good mix of clientelle of all ages. Some of them regulars, some business-folk, and some with badminton rackets as it is situated right opposite South Leeds Sports Centre, Beeston. The plentiful picnic bench seating at the front of the pub is due to be expanded next year. I've spent many an afternoon sitting in the sunshine enjoying a nice real ale outside of this very nice alehouse. More seating means that more can soon be doing the same.
Just off the NO 1 Bendy-bus route. Get off at the Hunslet Hall Road Dentists and head for the M621 viaduct. You can't miss it."
