On 25-1-2010 eldoon said : "Now under new management, the Smithy has also lost some of its best bar staff, so you can sometimes wait a while to be served, even when it's not that busy."
       

On 22-9-2008 eldoon said : "The Smithy has had a welcome makeover since the present landlady Stacy took over last year. The bar service has also markedly improved. The food cooked by Tony the chef is good quality and value. During the week the clientelle is mainly locals, it gets busier on Wednesdays for the quiz but it is Saturdays when it is at it's liveliest drawing crowds from miles around for the entertainment. Good range of lagers and ales, Bombardier being a popular choice."
