On 30-7-2009 pencroft said : "If you are a real ale enthusiast or you like good company and good food it really is difficult to find fault in this gem of a pub. I defy anyone to wait for a drink for more than 15 seconds, why can't more pubs have sufficient staff to keep drinkers topped up? It has old world charm and some of the locals add to this and always offer friendly cheer. Bar food is good and rsetaurant food is very good indeed although there are not a massive number of tables so book early. The Shropshire Lad is to die for and I doubt you would ever get a bad pint in there. It does amaze me that people go to such a pub and drink lager!! Family friendly and dog friendly and a roaring open fire in the winter, a great place to pass a few hours any time of the day."

The man that runs the shoe shop recommended it to us as it welcomes Dogs (you need to phone and book and say you want to bring your dog) the beers and wines here were lovely as was the food. The staff were very friendly and the place is nice, clean and cosy. We went in on Halloween and the bar area was heaving, as was the large covered outside area. I want to go back here again soon!"

Vis a vis our visits to other pubs nationally the prices were a bit higher than we would have liked, although the food was very varied and thoroughly enjoyable. Drinks prices were about normal with a reasonable choice. They have an interesting no smoking policy - up to 9.00 pm (if I remember correctly)no smoking in eating areas, with a small dedicated no smoking area. A large awning had been erected over the entrance area giving a larger drinking area - New Year 2005 - so we didn't take a photo as we couldn't do the place justice. We will be happy to visit again."

Good selection of beers, reasonably priced, nice food and friendly atmosphere in olde pub interior, front garden offers great view across Worcestershire, and inside you can catch up on the world from the paper rack, get chatting with the regulars and sample such drinking experiences as banana bread beer. Definitely worth going back to Malvern for. Come to think of it, I shouldn't have said all this, everybody will be going there. "
