On 19-9-2007 pete69 said : "dave1965 must have been on drugs (no offence dave). This has been and probably will be for some time one of if not Britains best pubs. I feel lucky to live only 4 miles away, but luckier if I was much closer. I have been visiting on and off for well over 20 years. In the days before the microbrewery they always had a fantastic array of real ale. Now mostly their own beers, which are execelent (hoppy just like I like them) sometimes a shock to the pallet used to pasturised beer. The only point that can be levied against is that it is a little expensive for the locals (me included) compared with the other pubs, but I guess not against city prices for gassy lager...."

On 20-5-2006 millay said : "I’ve only been to this place once but it is now on my list of favourite Manchester pubs. The high vaulted ceiling, the sloping mosaic floor and the solid wooden furniture give it a bit of a beer hall feel. The beer was excellent on our visit and had we not been on our third day of drinking, with another three pubs still to find, we would have stayed longer. Will definitely pay another visit next time I am in Manchester. "
       

On 04-10-2005 busdriver said : "as of the above..this is one pub you must visit if you ever visit this fair city..with the beer house further down..there is no excuse not too..nice cider..nice ginger beer..good local/work trade..this pub has obviousley swallowed a few customers from a few other establishments..every time ive frequented this pub its been busy..long may it continue"
