"Been here several times in recent weeks & I've always been made welcome.Tetly cask always on plus 2 guest ales. Black Sheep, speckled Hen, london pride are the ones I remember and all were on form. There's a good varied food menu at decent prices & plenty of outdoor space including a bowling green. SKY TV, pool table & quiz machine. ..."

"Mother's Day, 22nd March 2009, I made the awful mistake of suggesting to my elderly parents that we meet at "The Lion" for a Mother's Day meal, it is rare that I am able to get time off work, since I work hard, 7 days pw. My parents used to eat at The Lion with some friends of theirs, so they were happy to agree to what was supposed to be a Mother' ..."

"Took Mrs B and our dog along for a lunchtime meal. Dog not allowed inside meaning we had to eat outside. Luckily the weather was fine. Thwaites Wainwright ale is first class, best pint I've had in many a year. Friendly staff, but food was only average - adequate but not top notch. They obviously rely a lot on a freezer and microwave. ..."
