Despite the efforts of the Luftwaffe in 1940, a pub has been operational here for umpteen years. However, it's fortunes changed drastically for the better in 2002, when the pub was purchased and renovated by the Individual Pub Company.
The Coalie is similar to it's close neighbour, the Palmerston Arms. The pub offers a choice of eight real ales and one real cider or perry on hand-pump; an extensive selection of Belgian blttled beers an a reasonable selection of malt whiskies.
The bar is a single room, with stone floor and simple but comfortable furnishings. The pub is for friendly conversation. There are no TV's, Juke Boxes, Bandits or Pool Tables, although occasionally live music is featured. A large garden provides a rural setting for the popular bi-annual beer festivals held in spring and autumn." Report
