On 30-3-2005 marti said : "Great pub, huge portions of good food, friendly atmosphere, and good ale (mainly Timmy Taylors) at a good price. A gem, intend to stay B & B next time we are in the area."

On 28-6-2004 madge said : "Every time we go back to the Black Horse we are made to feel like locals. The food is always good & Rod fusses over every detail. Also lovely patio out back with the best space heaters in the north pennines. Make a detour next time you are up the A65!"
