"I made a point of calling at the New Barrack Tavern whilst in Sheffield yesterday. Having seen it advertised in real ale guides and real ale articles for a few years I was making the most of a chance to sample it.
I was not disappointed. My partner, Aly, and I arrived just as it opened at 5pm. Lovely clean and spotless pub throughout. Excellent range of beers including 4 (or was it 5?) from the Castle Rock brewery and at least 2 other real ales besides.
The service matched the beers of which I tried 3 different ones from the Castle Rock...superb.
The pub is large...art deco style I think. Its well furnished and spacious and with a beautifully kept floral outside drinking area to the back.
We had a pub meal whilst here and found it to be very tasty and fulfilling. Reasonably priced and enough to satisfy.
I would recommend this pub to anyone who enjoys excellent real ales , good service, good food and pleasant surroundings.
Makes me wish I lived much closer as would make this my local without a doubt.
Many thanks to Kev Woods the landlord and wishing him and his wife (Karen?) continued success."
