"I have just had the worst steak I have ever had in my life at this pub. We are in a narrowboat and moored there specifically because their website advertises two meals for £8.50, but when we arrived (July 2011) the waitress said they only did this offer in season. Not only were the bar and waiting staff dippy and unhelpful but when I complained about the tough, gristly rump steak, I just got a shrug and a blank look. We won't be recommending this place to anyone."

"After a recent walk around the Fenny Compton area, The Wharf was the only local Pub offering refreshments. After reading previous reviews, we didn't expect too much. The food was good quality and served freshly cooked in a very reasonable time. Beer was excellent with a good choice of local real ales (Hook Norton + others). The pub was clean and tidy and the service was both good and friendly. Things have obviously changed since the last review.
An interesting and different Pub with good beer garden. The pub is suitable for all ages. "

"This pub is now under new management, it's a gorgeous pub in a lovely setting by the side of the canal so for a drink it's perfect!! Unfortunately chef & staff have no idea when it comes to food or the cleanliness of restaurant! No attention to deatail on food, no lovely little garnish, just luke warm, poor quality, stale ciabetta & burger buns. Young lad brings out your food, doesn't notice you have no cutlery but doesn't think to get you any, food took 55 minutes even though there were only 6 tables being used, high chair was disgusting, should have been thrown away!! All in all very poor experience....spend your hard earned cash somewhere else!!"

"We had our firm's End of Financial Year party at the Wharf. We had a great evening. The location is brilliant and the food was extremely good. I have also had lunch on several occasions at the Wharf - also very nice. I look forward to visiting again very soon."

"Went here for lunch today. Sorry to say one of the most disapointing pub lunches I have ever had. It may have been cheap but it was also nasty. £3.95 for a bowl of home made pea soup with a cheese and onion sandwich. Pea soup was inedible, bread for sandwich was stale, unbuttered and the thimblefull of cheese and small slices of onion very unappealing. One of the nearest pubs to where we live but crossed off the list I'm afraid. Such a shame as due to its fab location next to the canal and beautiful views it could be super - but it neads tidying up and the food must be sorted out before I visit again. Sorry."

"The Wharf Inn, Fenny Compton.
Sunday Lunch 2 covers pre-booked for 1400 hrs Sunday 3rd instant. Table 26 Receipt 043050.2 covers.
This was the worst pub/restaurant food we have ever been confronted with, who 'cooked, plated and sent from your kitchen' to clients requires very urgent training, true disgusting. We sadly will never ever patronise any of your chains establishments in the future. I am 74 yrs old, my wife but 72 yrs old so extremely experienced in such food.
Those responsible are doing your Company a very great dis-service.

"Very nice canalside foody pub, top food & beer.
They also have a field at the back of the pub, that if you ask nicely, they'll let you camp for the night!!!"

"Being an Australian going to the UK to work, i never expected i would end up in Fenny Compton, working at the Wharf Inn. I found a beautiful canal side pub, with friendly staff and wonderful landlords. the Locals are all fantastic, which makes the atmosphere of this pub very inviting.
They certainly live up to their review in the Good Beer guide and fully deserve their Cask marque! Vist this pub! A+++++++++++"

"Formerly the George & Dragon, this canal-side country pub has been extensively modernised with some style. The emphasis is on food. Large canalside garden with childrens play area. Best ice-cream I've ever had in a pub."
