On 21-9-2009 jt1598 said : "If you don't like above average beer, fantastic service and a really friendly pub - don't go into the Black Horse. On a recent saturday out in Whitby, it was so hard not to just sit in this pub until home time. Needless to say I tried another three pubs i like but returned to the 'home of Whitby Pubs'. Going again next year, need more Adnams!!"

On 04-2-2007 anakitten said : "Very friendly pub. We were in there last August and the young lady behind the bar was lovely. My 10 year old daughter thought it was great as she was able to have a bottle of lucozade!!! Plus smokers were made to smoke in the lane outside the lounge which meant I could breath, lol. Will be visiting again in July 2007."
