On 17-8-2009 postiebob said : "What a great pub just at the bottom of the Abbey steps, very homely and good service, was busy the day I visited, excellent real ales and great views of the harbour, the meals looked excellent and I noticed they advertise quiz nights and live music. A first class pub in a very busy street well worth a visit."
       

On 04-5-2009 karenparry said : "We went to the Board Inn to eat on Saturday 2nd May 2009. The service was appalling. There were five of us. Two of us got our meals after about 20 minutes, then two more meals came out ten minutes later. Meals were being served one or two to a table then some to other tables leaving diners on each table waiting. When the fifth meal hadn't come ten minutes after that, we enquired about it and were told that it would be a few minutes. It was obvious that the meal hadn't been ordered, although we had paid for the five meals up front. We then had the money back for the fifth meal as the rest of us had finished eating. The manager was not available so we left a number for her to contact us but she hasnt called so far and we dont really expect her to. The evening was spoiled and we wouldn't recommend anyone to use the pub for a meal. The staff seemed totally uninterested in the fact that our evening had been ruined and one of our party didnt get a meal and it was too late by then to eat anywhere else. Its a shame that such a nice pub with lovely views has staff who dont know how to treat customers, has very disorganised kitchen and waiting staff and a manager who cant be bothered."
       

On 04-2-2007 anakitten said : "I have been visiting whitby for 6 years and this pub has hardly changed. Andy the barman is brilliant and has our drinks ready as soon as he sees us walk in. Food is good and the views are fabulous. Will be back again in July.."
