"If you don't like above average beer, fantastic service and a really friendly pub - don't go into the Black Horse. On a recent saturday out in Whitby, it was so hard not to just sit in this pub until home time. Needless to say I tried another three pubs i like but returned to the 'home of Whitby Pubs'. Going again next year, need more Adnams!! ..."

"This little pub is off the tourist trail but well worth a visit and is only a five minute walk from the town centre. Excellent pint of Camerons Strongarm and Tetley's Bitter. "What a great pub just at the bottom of the Abbey steps, very homely and good service, was busy the day I visited, excellent real ales and great views of the harbour, the meals looked excellent and I noticed they advertise quiz nights and live music.
