"Went for lunch at The Crown today 13/06/12 with my husband because we had passed the place in the past & thought it looked cosy & pleasant.
Clean inside but realised the place lacked a friendly atmosphere.
We chose the steak ale pie which was ok but we only got one dish of veg which would of been for 1 in another place.
Was overpriced especially compared to other places at £10.95 per meal.
The staffed lacked in personal service & only gave any customer service when forced to because they were busy talking loudly to each other & our plates werenot cleared until we were leaving. Not asked if we wanted anything else.
Seemed as if the customers were in the way being in their workplace.
I went to the Ladies & the male waiter was in the toilet making a mobile phone call !!!
Will not go again & wouldnot tell people to go there either-you have a better choice elsewhere."

"Ended up at Hutton-leHole as Blacky Ridge was full. The Crown was very busy including people sat outside as it was a lovely day. Ordered a sunday roast for three people and the meal was lovely the veg was to perfection and the meat was off a proper joint not some quick fast pack bonelesss joint yu get in some carveries. The chioce wasn't massive but then you knew everything was cooked from fresh and no prepreared rubbish. Dessert choice left alot to be desired ther was nothing that said 'eat me' so we had an icecream from the lcal shop which was lovely.
The beer was so good even my dad had a pint when he was the designated driver but then it was good real Ale - Black sheep country ;-). Even the wine spritzers had a good wine for the base.
Recently decorated too."

"Last year my family and I went to Hutton-le-Hole for a day trip, and before visiting the Ryedale folk museum decided to stop for lunch. The pub was packed out, but they still put the five of us on a tiny table and took our money for meals and drinks. We paid before we ate, and recieved terrible customer service.
My mother was brought the wrong meal, and when she asked to have it changed to what she originally ordered (she has specific diet requirements otherwise she would have just eaten the thing she was given) the waitress just walked off. Then the correct meal was brought, the waitress then threw the change onto the table (some of it fell off) and walked away. We then realised that the accompanying vegetables hadn't come (this was about 30 mins later) so reluctantly we asked the waitress once again, she gave us no response and moodily walked away.
So we decided after recieving such terrible treatment (and food) to go somewhere else and went to the bar to ask for a refund. The pub owner swore at my mother. So on our way out my father tipped his pint over the table (this was obviously the wrong thing to do but he had seriously lost his temper at this point) the landlord then came halfway down the village after us and very nearly punched my dad until my brother started calling the police.
Needless to say we didn't go to Ryedale folk museum after that, nor did we eat lunch that day, the whole incident affected me for a few days really. I've never received such offensive customer service in my life."
