Lancaster Pubs : The Lounge pub in Lancaster 'Like the previous commenters say, this is just an OK bar.
Of course the only major thing it has going for it is that it opens later than other places in town.
If you pop in after 11:30pm on a Wednesday (which is when I went in) and you happen to be over 21 (i.e. you work for a living), then be prepared to feel very out of place.
If you enjoy being jostled at a small bar, not getting served in turn, and listening to a 'live jazz' band that is something akin to Phoenix Nights, then this is the place for you.
It must be noted that I'm not quite sure the two guys who were tinkling away on their instruments were 'live' - they were a bit animated, so I assume they are not dead just yet (but it was a close run thing). Not that anyone in there bothered to listen, but it certainly was not decent Jazz.
Oh, and if you get a smile from the bar staff, think yourself lucky.
A place with lots of potential if only it had something more than opening late.' Report
Lancaster Pubs : George & Dragon pub in Lancaster 'Well, the new owners did arrive at the pub and moved in ... then ... they left! They opened for a grand total of 9 days. What went on is anyones guess. The George and Dragon is currently closed again - next please!' Report
Lancaster Pubs : The Three Mariners pub in Lancaster 'Are Roy and Claire the best public house keepers this side of the ring road? Methinks Yes! Food is great, and portions are of plenty. No piped music and locals are friendly enough. Enjoy this place while it lasts.' Report
Lancaster Pubs : The Merchants pub in Lancaster 'This place has come on in leaps and bounds over the last few months. Great staff, and I hear the food is good too (I've not yet partaken though). The one thing that bothers me about this place is the state of the toilets - though admittedly, I've only been in the gents.' Report
Lancaster Pubs : The Pub pub in Lancaster 'Try this pub. Friendly atmosphere and great live bands (when they are 'original' bands and not just the same old covers bands).' Report
Keighley Pubs : The Red Pig pub in Keighley 'Still a must visit for visitors in Keighley. Good real ale and characters abound.' Report
Lancaster Pubs : The Bobbin pub in Lancaster 'Very quiet these days. Still a good selection of real ales though. One thing that bothers me is the large plasma screens - especially when the audio that is playing to the pub on-mass is not anything to do with the audio from Scuzz TV.' Report
