West Bridgford Pubs : The Test Match Hotel pub in West Bridgford near Nottingham
'A pleasant pub with good atmosphere. Usually has a good pint of Stella served with a proper Stella head and served in a Stella glass but have had an occasional bad pint. Staff are usually friendly but sometimes stressed due to overwork. A pleasant non smoking room. Pity the beer garden wasn't a bit bigger. '

Retford Pubs : The Galway Arms pub in Retford
'Have visited a couple of times in last 2 months. Very pleasant atmosphere with good friendly service. Good Stella served in a Stella glass. Good example of typical 'old world' English pub. Now serves food but haven't tried yet. A Retford tradition. Known as a local for Rampton Mental Hospital employees. Always reliable if visiting Retford and not prone to fights and disturbances which are common in other Retford pubs. '

Retford Pubs : The White Hart Hotel pub in Retford
'Used to be a classic pub in the 60/70's with an excellant atmosphere and good location on corner of the market square but has deteriorated over the years. Have found the service poor and the food terrible (prepared by a child in a microwave and served cold). Beers average. Lost to competition from the new pubs around the market square (Broadstone and Mayflower).'

Retford Pubs : The Vine Inn pub in Retford
'Known as a rough disco style pub. Service good. Advised to sit near the exit incase fights break out. Good atmosphere. Good music in disco style. Serves food daytime. Good for a pub crawl or talent scouting. A Retford classic which goes back years. Good location in Cannon Square next to Market Square.'

Nottingham Pubs : Langtrys pub in Nottingham
'Popular city centre pub opposite Concert Hall. Good Stella but sometimes feel the pipes need cleaning. Good service but can get very crowded. Gets very smokey after 6pm. Will benefit from 2007 smoking ban. Attracts varied clientele including theatre goers. Outdoor seating to escape the smoke. Pub crawl circuit.'

Nottingham Pubs : The Roebuck Inn pub in Nottingham
'The first non smoking Wetherspoon's pub in Nottingham. Good location on interesting St James Street. On several visits have been served Stella which tastes 'off' and flat. Other drinkers report 'off' cider and bitter. Very poor bar service with employees running around but not getting anywhere. Very poor quality food usually served dried-out and sad. Have reported situation to head office and received promises of investigation but situation has not changed. A great pity as it could be a great pub.'

Retford Pubs : King and Miller pub in Retford
'Has changed more to a restaurant since the ownership change. Prices have reduced somewhat thanks to the Wetherspoon effect. Pleasant smoking area at front entrance. OK to take parents out for a drink or something to eat. Stella still served in proper Stella glass and fresh. '

Retford Pubs : The Vine Inn pub in Retford
'Fully endorse my previous comments but would like to add that the punch-ball in the beer garden adds an extra dimension to the Vine. Entertaining to watch the local lads have a go at the ball instead of each other. There were some good bangs there last time I visited. The Stella was up to the same standard. A good night out. Move away from the disco floor once it starts as the volume is body piercing. '

Carlton Pubs : Windsor Castle pub in Carlton near Nottingham
'Due to be demolished in 2009 and replaced by extension of local Tesco store. Will not really be missed as there are better pubs nearby.'
Report

Retford Pubs : The Dominie Cross pub in Retford
'This Wetherspoon pub has made its mark since opening and has become a meeting place for groups going on elsewhere in the area. Good location which has opened up the Grove Street area. Atmosphere is OK although rather dark in the main area. Prices are good. The food is average and should be returned if not up to your liking -the manager will replace or compensate accordingly. Beer garden is pleasant in summer although a bit scruffy at times. Good choice of beers. '
Report

Nottingham Pubs : Foremans Bar pub in Nottingham
'Very small and very loud. Lager bar. Outdoor sitting area. Euro style. Dark and hot in summer. Popular bar on the Corner House circuit.'
Report

Retford Pubs : The Vine Inn pub in Retford
'Recent visit indicates that The Vine is losing out to The Phoenix (X-Mayflower) as they have taken over on the disco/DJ scene. The Vine cannot compete with this venue and cannot compete on prices. A pity but that's life. '
