Madeley Pubs : Barley Mow Inn pub in Madeley near Telford 'The Barley isn't the smartest pub in the world & it certainly has had its share of dodgy characters and trouble. I don't see how just Steph can be blamed for this though. As Bearcat rightly pointed out, much of the blame lies with the owners who need to invest some much needed cash into the place, including increased security to disuade drug users. There are plenty of other pubs in Telford where drug abuse goes on and the staff haven't got a clue. At least Steph is trying to do something about it. Anyway, the Barley is nowhere near as bad as these reviews are making out. The mild, while not as good as the Miners, is perfectly drinkable and only £1.50 a pint on Sunday dinner times. There are plenty of older characters who drink in the bar who have drunk in Madeley for years. If the beer is so bad, why are they there every week (and sometimes every day)? the staff are always friendly, unlike some of the miserable gits who own pubs around here who frankly could do with a personality transplant. I am happy to take my 10 year old son to the Barley & not worry about his safety, and I am not an irresponsible parent. I have had good nights and bad in the Barley, but far more good ones than bad. Give the place a chance, try it out before you judge (but don't expect the Ritz). If we drive all the decent pubbers away by exaggerating the problems then it will only get worse and we all lose. Madeley Pubs : The Red Lion Inn pub in Madeley near Telford 'Quiet pub. Usually just pop in for one on way to Ironbridge. Banks's mild tasted fine last time we were there (about two weeks ago). Friendly staff & reasonable decor. Nice little walled beer garden at back. Used to be a dive a few years ago, but never any trouble there now.' Report
Madeley Pubs : Cuckoo Oak pub in Madeley near Telford 'Food pub. Large floor space, ideal for families and large groups. cheap 'Hungry Horse' food served on massive plates. Food quality is generally ok. Beer isn't brilliant, but it's not bad either (Worthingtons Creamflow, Hand pulls rarely in operation).' Report
Madeley Pubs : Barley Mow Inn pub in Madeley near Telford 'It's interesting that the people making nasty comments keep going on about Steve and the old DJ. Not so surprising though when you realise they're the ones making the comments. Quite sad really.' Report
