Stanningley Pubs : The Thornhill Arms pub in Stanningley near Pudsey 'I came across this pub a few months back when i was mistakenly dropped off by a taxi at the wrong Thornhill Arms ! the other one is at Calverley. . .anyhoo. . .the inn in question is a great little pub,nice atmosphere,friendly staff,guest beers. . .Spitfire,Hobgoblin,Copper Dragon recently. . . and if you are that way inclined. . .Karaoke,Bands,& entertainment to suit most tastes. .. give it a try, Angie and Steve are in charge and will make you most-welcome.' Bardsey Pubs : The Bingley Arms pub in Bardsey near Leeds 'Got to agree,pretty-dire. . .how can it be so wrong ?.. . . .as it goes, just got back from a jaunt along Stanningley Road. . .lots of different pubs. . . all enjoyable in their own way,music in some . . . .quiet corners in others. . .Karaoke and real-ale,a veritable cornucopia. . . .the Thornhill Arms and the Roundabout are little gems. . . .The Brown-Cow is no more, unfortunately. . .a lovely little boozer is now rubble. . . .so it goes. . . .happy-daze.' Wakefield Pubs : Jolly Sailor Inn pub in Wakefield 'Long time since my last visit to this water-side inn,last time the pub looked-out onto a very busy stretch of water,now the whole opposite-bank is being gentrified,and the commercial properties converted to bijou appartments and condominiums,with a footbridge to come across later in the development.Now then,down to the pub,10 mins from Westgate station,8 mins from Leeds on the GNER !,Tardis-like the pub is roomy but with a cosy atmos. the interior is warm and nicely laid-out,traditional and welcoming.A good selection of beers and lagers inc. a cask-ale(Tets.) and a mild,a rarity nowadays,chalk-boards give info. on special drinks deals and offers,rotated regularly,good service and a friendly manner are the order of the day,food is prepared and served to order,and chalked menus are easily accessed.Live bands on Sats.quiz-nights Weds&Sun. and on August bank holiday,Monday 27th,B.B.Q., and Karaoke with one of the best,the lovely Ann,12 while 4. . . .you are sure of a warm welcome from mine-host Simon,with excellent heated smoking facilities,& have a stroll over to the massive waterway,lean on the wall and take it all-in,in a word excellent. Stanningley Pubs : The Old Roundabout Inn pub in Stanningley near Pudsey 'Lively traditional pub on Stanningley Town St.,cosy atmosphere and friendly staff,good selection of beers,lagers and cider.Great Karaoke on Saturday and Sunday evenings with the lovely Ann,also free bar-snacks on Sunday,good transport links from outlying districts.Excellent service with a smile highly recommended.'
