Widnes Pubs : The Unicorn Inn pub in Widnes
'We visited this pub at 5pm today (when the kitchen opened), in the hopes of a meal before I went into work.
We made our way to some seats, and the barmaid brought over some menu's. She told us at this time, that our tables were being held off to watch the football, but we could stay sitting there as long as we were leaving before the match started (what if we had also wanted to watch the match ?).
I had gone over to read the specials board, and on my way back to the seats came across 2 members of staff that were slagging me and my parents off. They were basically shouting at the top of their lungs "I mean I can't believe they have even sat there it says reserved " "I know, you just wouldnt be so cheeky would you"
As it happens, the reserved signs were the size of business cards, they had only been put on the table AFTER we had spoken to the barmaid, and she had placed them UNDER the beer mats so you couldnt even see them.
I could not believe how rude the staff were, obviously they did not communicate with each other else they would have known that we had offered to move seats and been told not to worry. Also, if there was an issue they should have spoken to us NOT the rest of the pub !
I was so annoyed that my party got up, told them they could have their table back and left !
I will never ever use or recommend this pub again, there are far better places to eat and drink in this town !'
