Hopwas Pubs : The Red Lion pub in Hopwas near Tamworth
'Ordered two pints of Bombadier (the other real ale alternative was Pedigree) in the Lounge Bar. My pint was fine, however my partners was very warm - she tried mine and accepted that mine was cooler - this wasn't just a warm glass - the first pint pulled was very warm!. We complained - well my partners 20 year old daughter complained that this one pint was particularly warm and unpalatable as a result - the barmaid went to fetch landlord ?manager? who took his time to come and take the complaint - his response - this is is real ale - we don't chill it!! - it then took me some time to explain that warm beer which has stood in the pipes - presumable running over lights etc was unacceptable - so he took the glass - poured about a quarter of it away and topped it up with fresh ale. It wasn't so much the warm beer that annoyed us, but the failure to accept that the customer had a right to complain about poor beer! '
