Poole Pubs : Poole Arms pub in Poole
'My family and I cannot recomment the Poole Arms. The DRINKS were not well kept. The lemonade tasted of water rather than of lemon, the cider and shandy were flat. The FOOD was typical pub grub, and the fish and chips were apparently alright. But neither my scampi nor my daughter's veggie burger tasted very nice. Interestingly, we were both sick about 5 hours after our pub visit. I cannot say with certainty that it was the pub food, but we didn't eat anything else after our meal. I am also wondering about the hygiene aspect, because they had two large dogs who came through a door behind the bar into the pub and were then taken for a walk. '

Boldre Pubs : The Hobler Inn pub in Boldre near Lymington
'The Hobler Inn is more of a trendy gastro pub than a tradtional country pub, and I believe it's part of a chain. We have been there a few times for lunch, and each time the food was good. They do a lunchtime deal of two courses for about £10 and also have a comprehensive menu. The Hobler is well frequented and has a very mixed clientele, which makes for a good atmosphere. There is a large and well furnished al fresco dining area in the garden (rather than a beer garden) and there are some benches in the front of the pub. The only drawback to sitting outside is the road which is close to the pub and which has a continous stream of traffic on it. '

Poole Pubs : Poole Arms pub in Poole
'...and Bob Kerr, you are ABSOLUTELY right! Not about my being drunk, because I wasn't - but about getting the name of the pub wrong! SORRY. As a matter of fact, I returned to Poole yesterday(for the second time ever)and realised with shock that I had got the pub names mixed up. And that's why I'm back at my computer setting the record straight - which I would have done even if Bob had not commmented! SO: It was NOT the Poole Arms, it was The Lord Nelson. I know they don't even look alike, but if you are new to Poole and see the array of pubs on the quay, you can get confused regarding the names. I must have mixed them up because we had been in the Poole Arms as well last time, but not to eat. We should have, The Poole Arms sounds wonderful! So, I hope I am forgiven. '
