Lincoln Pubs : The Forum pub in Lincoln
'This pub is the reason why other pubs in Lincoln have had to bring their food and beer prices down. It is still possible to get a pint for about £1.40 and it is not end of the barrel/out of date stuff. They have a wide range of beers and other drinks.
The food is excellent value for money and the steak nights on a Tuesday which cost £5.95 including a pint or other drink including some shorts with mixer are excellent. Try a sirloin steak. Even a cup of coffee is only 79p including a small biscuit makes this the cheapest place in town.
The downside is one or two alcoholics use this as their affordable local.
It is great for meeting up with friends at the beginning of the night as there is no annoying background music and its big and comfortable and a round of drinks doesn't cost a mortgage. '

Lincoln Pubs : The Lincolnshire Poacher pub in Lincoln
'I was invited to a quiz at this large pub on a Wednesday night (23/9/2009) The actual quiz wasn't bad but the quizmaster had microphonitis and couldn't stop talking, mostly rubbish with some endlessly repeated sexual comments thrown in about 'tossing people off' which was suppose to be a funny comment about him throwing people out of a cricket ground when he was a steward, also 'dogging'. Not the sort of stuff our group of mixed aged individuals wanted to hear.
It didn't help that he allowed immature team names such as 'R Souls' which was endlessly repeated throughout the evening. Funny if you were a 9 year old I suppose.
The bar staff were reasonably efficient but more intent on talking with each other whilst serving rather than stopping their conversations until they were free.
The place is due for a revamp in October 2009 but its not the decor that makes a good pub.
