Redmile Pubs : The Windmill Inn pub in Redmile near Nottingham
'After hearing some good reports on this local gastro-pub, we were very much looking forward to a family meal here. Service was ok, both our waiting staff although not very good in English were attentive and friendly. The food itself was well presented and portion size was adequate. However, the steaks we ordered were surprisingly chewy as was the almost inedible duck a l'orange that my mother ordered. The waiter was helpful, even though we could hear the landlady make derogatory comments about us and the waiter. The replacement dishes were ok, I doubt the meat is locally sourced as claimed - local butchers in the area are excellent and you could cook better at home. More likely to be Argentinaen. We decided not to stay for dessert, it seems very odd that owners of such an establishment would be rude about guests, especially local ones that are the best form of advertising. There are far better options around, back in Grantham town centre & Newark. '
