Batley Pubs : The Cellar Bar pub in Batley
'This pub I found quite poor,It had an unwelcoming atmosphere. The pub itself does not offer food and children are unwelcome so it is definitely not a family pub. When I attended on the first occasion The beers were not too bad with a decent range of cask ales,I am a C.A.M.R.A member from another area and this pub had been recommended as worth a visit, however I visited on a couple of occasions a week apart and they still had the same beers on which had naturally deteriorated. The acceessibility was poor having to go down several stone steps hence the name (cellar bar) to a dark dimly lit bar area, there is a very steep set of stairs to negotiate to the toilets and there are no disabled facilities.Overall poor and one that I shall not be visiting again.'

Dewsbury Pubs : Shepherds Boy pub in Dewsbury
'Another pub recomended to me on my tour of the Heavy woollen district was the Shepherds Boy on the outskirts of the Town heading towards Huddersfield. The pub is on the main road and has a spacious car park, The lunch time menu was good and priced about right. There were 8 handpumps on the bar in two banks one serving the resident beers from Ossett brewery and the others various guest beers along with a mild and a stout. The Beers were good and well kept and within a reasonable price range. The pub looks to have undergone some major refurbishment work but looks clean & tidy & seems well looked after. landlord was chatty and very keen to make you feel welcome while talking about his main passion (Golf). All in all nice pleasant surroundings, decent beer and well worth a visit if your in the area. '

Dewsbury Pubs : The Leggers Inn pub in Dewsbury
'another pub recommended by my sources in the HW branch of CAMRA. This really is a Jewel (if you can find it). The pubs situated in the Robinsons boat yard in the Savile Town area of the Town. As the name suggests the pub as a historic link with canals and narrow boats. The pub is to be found to the upstairs of some converted stables, with oaked beam low ceilings. A large bar accommodates eight cask ales a mild and a cider and vaious belgian and german beers. Theres also a great selection of speciality and continental beers.Great food including a full menu from lunch time until 9pm.A Pool table and as much memerobilia as you could wish for. Great Pub,Great Beer, Great Food.'

Dewsbury Pubs : West Riding Refreshment Rooms pub in Dewsbury
'What a disappointment after all the hype about this pub,The Staff were having an argument between themselves when I went in and the look I got when I respectfully asked for my beer topping up would have soured milk. There are 8 cask ales in two banks of four with four been resident and four guests one of which was a porter. The first beer (Anglo Dutch) ghost on the rim was about the highlight of a poor selection. The food had been reccommended to me but to be honnest it was little to write home about and very over priced. The gents toilets were the worst I have ever seen, filthy and dimly lit. grossly over rated and a let down in all departments. avoid. '

Dewsbury Pubs : Rose & Crown Inn pub in Dewsbury
'Oh dear - very poor and struggling, not a sole in the place, and not surprisingly because they had no beers - seriously. Just Lager, Tastefully decorated but you cant help thinking someone has wasted an awful lot of money here - another one to avoid.'
