Toddington Pubs : The Fancott Arms pub in Toddington near Dunstable 'If you're looking for somewhere pleasant to sit and enjoy a drink, especially if you have children - Bingo. Although the very short train ride is expensive at £1 per person, small people are kept busy and safe in a lovely garden with good play equipment.
If you're looking for somewhere good to eat. Go somewhere else. The food we had yesterday either looked like someone had emptied the contents of their stomach on to a baguette and then toasted, so the baguette became a crisp, or was uninspiring and poorly cooked. I had the cajun chicken sandwich which at £6.50 was hideously overpriced. Cajun chicken should be a succulent and spicy morsel, spices having been lovingly rubbed into it and indeed on the menu it sounded lovely - with salad and mayonnaise (was difficult finding either, I lifted a cherry tomato and there both were). The chef made mine appear to be one of those fillets that had been frozen minutes before and pinged in the microwave. The same fare that is served at half the price in a Hungry Horse. It was flaccid and tasteless. So at £8.15 for a boring chicken sandwich and bottle of water seemed inordinately expensive and I wouldn't set foot there again to eat. £2.50 for frozen chips! Added to that was the slow waitress service (I cleared the tables) and I failed to receive the chips I had clearly ordered. ' Report
