Aldridge Pubs : The Old Irish Harp pub in Aldridge near Walsall
'We went to this pub on Saturday 27th September 2008 and ordered 2 lime and soda's, a hot chocolate, a child's sandwich, a ham sandwich and a soup of the day. We ammended the order to include a blackcurrant cordial. We waited 20 minutes for the cordial to be brought to us. We waited a further 35 minutes for the food! I complained to the waitress who said that there were so many people outside that they were telling people there was now a 45 minute wait. When the food eventually came there were vegetable sticks on my daughters' meal. They looked very dried up and on closer inspection had started to rot and go slimey. The cheese on her sandwich was dried up and oily. I told the waitress we didn't want the food and she chased after us demanding that we pay for the drinks we'd had! As we left, we could see that half of the tables outside were not occupied. Bad experience all round.'

Walsall Pubs : The Wheatsheaf pub in Walsall
'Recently refurbished. It looks very nice both inside and out now. Freezing cold inside all the time though - always best to keep your coat on which doesn't make for the most relaxed visit. It 'looks' cold in there too, no lights on, no warm corner with a fire or anything and nothing to make it seem warm. Sandwiches are freshly made but very average. There seems to be a lot of promises made about new and exciting menus which never materialise. Exciting things on the menu turn out to be frozen, reheated stuff (vegetarian burgers in particular) with a large price tag to go with it. The prices would be reasonable if the food was home made. I don't like the fact that their dogs are left to wander around the pub. Ok if you like dogs. I don't. Makes you wonder if they let them roam around in the kitchen too. For drinks it's a great place with a good range of beers and wine.'
