'massive improvement on what it was, still needs to continue with the improvement but will get there. The owner i believe also has 2 other pubs in town and i cant fault them. Great real Ale and summertime atmosphere. I find the food is good, its a shame when people like drumstick man (prev comment) havent got a clue about real pubs and spend there sad little lives putting good pubs down, go back to wetherspoons u sad little man!!!'

'i visit lancaster now and again for business purposes and i know the area well from being a former student and i always make time to visit the cosy little pub. I've always found the food top quality, proper good pub grub and the soups are to die for!!! Good Real ale selection and great live music. Unfortunatly the service standards and atmosphere have slipped. Customer service seems like they dont want to be there. Old barman drinking on duty, does not look good!!!'

'Great pub thoroughly deserves past awards it gets. Rated Lancaster's number 1 pub is fair. Though this along with everywhere else lacks the class, effienct customer service that once made this town famous on the pub map!!! Are bar staff not aloud to communicate on a level with customers anymore!!!!

'nearly burnt down due to an insurance job (only rumour) nice place though lacks real direction, staff arent that bright, but love the refurb. Unfortunatly when it comes to real ale, good pub food, atmosphere and customer inter-action (although lancaster lacks unlike previous years gone by) this is a 2nd tier site behind such pubs as the sun, white cross, john o g!!!
