North Gorley Pubs : The Royal Oak pub in North Gorley near Fordingbridge '"When mighty roast beef was the Englishman's food
It ennobl'd our veins and enriched our blood
Our soldiers were brave and our courtiers were good
Oh! The roast beef of Old England, and Old English roast beef."
Only in this case it was the finest Scottish beef washed down with local "Landlord" ale. Search this one out.' Report
Yateley Pubs : The Ely pub in Yateley 'What a difference a day makes! The first time I visited this establishment I could not sing its praises highly enough. So much so that I booked it a few days later for my wife's 50th birthday dinner with family and friends. The only successful ingredient was the egg on my face. We obviously picked a night when the second team were on duty throughout. Very disappointed with the poor standard of beer keeping, the service and the star attraction; the shoulder of lamb!' Report
Broughton Pubs : The Sun Inn pub in Broughton near Kettering 'A very friendly village pub well worth the short detour off the A43 south of Kettering. The cellar is meticulously well kept, and the food is excellent value for money.' Report
Yateley Pubs : The Cricketers pub in Yateley 'Since a refit and a change of management Gavin and Tracy have transformed the Cricketers into one of the best pubs in the locality.' Report
Dunmere Pubs : Borough Arms pub in Dunmere near Bodmin 'After an invigorating walk around the perimeter of the Lanhydrock estate we stopped off for al fresco refreshments at Dunmere when the weather turned decidedly unfriendly. The manager immediately invited us inside where we enjoyed a memorable long lunch while our rhodesian ridgeback dog sprawled at our feet in front of the fireplace.' Report
St Merryn Pubs : Cornish Arms Inn pub in St Merryn near Padstow 'An ideal watering hole and pit stop when exploring the South West Coastal Path between Newquay and Padstow in North Cornwall especially if you have a dog in tow. Excellent local ale, an adequate menu of well prepared food and a comfy spot in front of the fireplace for the dog!' Report
Bank Pubs : The Oak Inn pub in Bank near Lyndhurst 'A favourite watering hole in the New Forest which when ever we visit provides pub fare of restaurant quality and choice, a good selection of ale from the wood and fast and friendly service. Above all our rhodesian ridgeback dog is always made very welcome and is allowed to settle under our table while we eat. ' Report
Blackwater Pubs : Crown & Cushion pub in Blackwater near Camberley 'I gave up on this pub under the old regime but today I found it having a face lift under the new ownership of Shepherd Neame and it's latest management. The law of averages dictates that sooner or later somebody will make a success of what is potentially a gem of a country pub. Watch this space!' Report
Blackwater Pubs : Crown & Cushion pub in Blackwater near Camberley 'As confirmed by the map above Biltong's comment should read "Located (on the Minley Road - A327) between the A30 and M3 (a stone's throw from Jct 4A)". The standard of service and quality of food has improved out of all recognition under the new management and I thoroughly recommend a visit to this congenial spot if you are in the area. There's a choice of lovely walks on the doorstep (Hawley Lake or Minley Wood) so bring the dog with you, but bear in mind 'Fido' will be more than welcome in the garden but, alas, not inside. ' Report
Fifield Pubs : Hare & Hounds pub in Fifield near Maidenhead 'No longer a pub at this location: Given way to residential development.' Report
Church Crookham Pubs : The Foresters Inn pub in Church Crookham near Fleet 'For value for money this country pub outside Fleet offers the diner something out of the ordinary: A wide and varied menu of generous proportions, with an imaginative specials board which at times includes a spectacular range of fresh fish. (The current offer is red mullet, sea bass, barramundi and turbot fillet and includes a free bottle of Pinot Grigio valued at £14.65 with an order of two meals from this selection). The beer, Timothy Taylor and London Pride, is always spot on, and as they rightly say they don't keep good ale - they sell it! For those wishing to compensate for the calories there are glorious walks in Eversley Forest which backs on to the pub's spacious, well kept, dog friendly garden. Our delicious three course lunch for two today, including wine, beer and coffee cost £52.
