This user has reviewed the following pubs:

Aldcliffe Lance Pubs : The Waterwitch pub in Aldcliffe Lance near Lancaster
'Amazing! I read alot about this pub before finding it, (a bit off the beaten track) but what a find. You only need to see the awards to realise how well they are doing. A must see!'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : 1725 pub in Lancaster
'Once again, Mitchell s have let themselves and Lancaster down. An absolute disgrace of a refurb. Forgive me if I dont mention their qualities , I found none, and did not stay to look further!'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Fibber Mcgees pub in Lancaster
'Typical Mitchells disgrace!'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The John O Gaunt pub in Lancaster
'second only yo the Water Witch.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The White Cross pub in Lancaster
'ate and drank here as it had been highly recommended. Mediocre came to my mind. It was only when we walkedinto town the Water Witch was recommended, also on the canal that we realised our mistake.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Mint Cafe pub in Lancaster
'I go in here if nothing other then escaping the other pubs when in town. It is OK but offers little choice or quality unless you like cocktails which I do not'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Sun Hotel & Bar pub in Lancaster
'This has to be one of the most amazing transformations that I have ever come across. The owners of the Water Witch have done it again, but more amazingly, in the Sun? When they took over the Witch, most said that that pub had had it's day, yet there were some that wanted it to be great again. Yet the Sun! What were they thinking? Here I am, however, writing to inform that it is now probably the best (if not, only second place to the Water Witch) pub in town. 8 real local ales, loads of whisky, nothing commercial (no Stella, Smooth, Bud or Ice here). They open at 7:30 am and the breakfast is the best and most innovative I have ever had, tea & coffee list extraordinaire and still no chips or burgers!!! The place is packed, and when visiting it is a must go to venue. If nothing else it is a reason to visit Lancaster!'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Merchants pub in Lancaster
'It really is a wonderful venue, and somewhere I go to show off what Lancaster has to offer, whenever I have visitors staying. Good news over, that is a reflection on how bad Lancaster is! Always the comments come back about how poor the standards are of self promotion, cleanliness and product range. Even outside the heaters have been battered and a brush has been missing for the past year. The place is, however, there for the clientel that use it, and as others have said, friendly, safe and there is always a good banter to be had, the landlord is a top bloke. But this does not qualify it to be voted highly. The Merchants should be voted on how great it could and should be! '
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Duke Of Lancaster pub in Lancaster
'Poor standards and sometimes quite threatening. There are some charactersin there though.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Brown Cow Inn pub in Lancaster
'The designers who ruined this charactor, and traditional pub need shooting! Anybody could do that to a pub, infact, everyone has done that to pubs. Congratulations Thwaites. Absolutely disgraceful.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Yorkshire House pub in Lancaster
'Good pub for all sorts of reasons. Passionately run, excellant beer and an active events diary. Do not be frightened by the exsuberence of the clientel. This is a very friendly and safe venue, just in need of a bit of updating.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Bobbin pub in Lancaster
'What a very odd pub. Beer is good, yet I can't help feel uncomfortable with some of the characters in here. They probably view me the same though. Matt the new lanclord is doing well and he looks and feels the part for the customers that use the pub.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Sir Richard Owen (Wetherspoon) pub in Lancaster
'This Wetherspoons has the eariest atmosphere. Service is whenever the staff can be bothered. I've never seen any fighting, yet it always feels that it is about to go off. The beer is much better in the lower wetherspoons.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Park Hotel pub in Lancaster
'Its certainly not the best, but I've been in much worse.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Penny Bank pub in Lancaster
'For what it was, this is a crime. Once vying to be the best pub in town when I was a student to now being one of the very worst. It is like nobody cares. No ideas so they go cheap!'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Cafe Bar Eleven pub in Lancaster
'A great addition to the pub scene of Lancaster. Certainly much better now than when it was first oopened. I don't know why it took so long to soften it as it was always too over the top before. Food fantastic, choice amazing. A must see.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Ruxtons Bar pub in Lancaster
'Catering for a certain scene. You cant be too hard on them as if the scum were not in there, they would be infecting other places. '
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Stonewell Tavern pub in Lancaster
'The jury is still out on this bold move. I believe that everybody wishes Nigel well with this venture, yet it might be a bit too much too soon, especialliy when trying to overcome a possibly undeserved reputation. I am sure the marks will improve as and when the custom increases. I will try and do my bit...'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Boot & Shoe Hotel pub in Lancaster
'Probably now the best example of what a Mitchells house can do. Very good as a destination pub.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Three Mariners pub in Lancaster
'Obviously with the kind of money spent you would expect high standards, yet so often customers are let down. This time Mitchells have done something right. Coupled with a good landlord with a great attitude to the game this is a winner. Great beer well kept and good choice. One flaw - the stools at the bar. There isn't the room so please get rid of them.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The Sun Hotel & Bar pub in Lancaster
'There probably are not the plaudits for this pub. It is simply the best in town. '
Report

Lancaster Pubs : The White Cross pub in Lancaster
'Much improved through the hard work of the new landlord Tim. Great guy with a good work ethic, friendly staff, product knowledge and care, and lightbulbs. Curious to know why the restaurant has been converted into a loung area. But who am I to question Tim as he has made a great success of it so far. Keep up the good work!'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Fibber Mcgees pub in Lancaster
'I'm sorry, but there is nothing nice to say about this plastic pub.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Fox & Goose pub in Lancaster
'Mediocre does not quite describe this place properly. I could think of other words, but that would not be nice to print them. There is a new tenant there and it would be worth having a look in the near future, but I really am not running to get back.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : George & Dragon pub in Lancaster
'What exactly are we trying to save here. Yes it is nice to go into a traditional pub, but to be welcomed as if you've walked dog poo around the pub by the 2 locals and a bar person that resents being there is not my idea of a reason to keep it local. What a ridiculous statement. The landlord is changing again, which might suggest that keeping it "local" does not quite pay the bills. The new landlady is coming from the Wagon And Horses, and she might round up all the locals in one place because it desperately needs a boost.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Ring O Bells pub in Lancaster
'Much better, with a good choice of well kept beers.'
Report

Hitchin Pubs : The Sir John Barleycorn pub in Hitchin
'Great pub run well.'
Report

Lancaster Pubs : Wagon & Horses pub in Lancaster
'The addition of mirrors and pink walls makes this an interesting time for the historically best pub on the key. I hope the new team there get it right, in fact I am sure they will. They just need to getting rid of the bar scum. Put the prices up, and be particullarly rude to the ignorant locals who are constantly reminding them of where they are going wrong, and how much better it used to be! Only then will others come down the key on a more regular basis. '
Report

Barrow-In-Furness Pubs : The Duke of Edinburgh Hotel pub in Barrow-In-Furness
'So far in front of every other pub in Barrow, possibly Cumbria. It stands alone as a freak pub, worth a visit to the town but dont bother going to far from here.'
