'I recently spent a weekend in Keswick & found myself & family in the Twa Dogs - Big Robbie Burns connection (named after one of his poems) Friendly pub - home made food in generous portions - recommend the Gammon steak & the Cumberland sausage. Also the Jennings bitter was very nice. '

'Every time we go back to the Black Horse we are made to feel like locals. The food is always good & Rod fusses over every detail. Also lovely patio out back with the best space heaters in the north pennines. Make a detour next time you are up the A65!'

'Despite a lively mixed crowd of drinkers when we went in plus the full range of Taylors beers and Copper Dragon on draught plus polite helpful barstaff I was disappointed with the best bitter which was not very well kept & the back room of the pub is gloomy and soulless.'

'Visited on a Friday night - the Narrow Boat is now completely no smoking. This means that there are no young people & that the atmosphere is that of a museum. Still the beer is excellent- visitors from Ossett brewery, Marston Moor, York Brewery, Moorhouses & Phoenix + the local Copper Dragon.'
