Hawleys Corner Pubs : The Spinning Wheel pub in Hawleys Corner near Westerham 'This used to be a first-class pub / restaurant until Brewer's Fare took over. I think Brewer's Fare still run the place and the food is vaguely edible and the beer drinkable. Swamped with kids at weekends.' Report
Rochester Pubs : Royal Victoria and Bull Hotel pub in Rochester 'An old coaching inn, like its namesake in Dartford and apparently mentioned in Dickens' Pickwick Papers. Unlike the Dartford Inn this is upper-crust and boring. With its over-priced food and drink you're more likely to find the few inhabitants sleeping rather than raving on a Saturday night.' Report
Rochester Pubs : The City Wall pub in Rochester 'This place has the appearance of a wine bar rather than a pub. It does, however, do a good line in beers and lagers. Some of the clientele are definitely of the yuppie variety but this is basically a congenial watering hole and if you do fancy a change just step into the Eagle next door or Aaronn Stone's over the road.' Orpington Pubs : The Broomwood Steak House pub in Orpington 'In my youth this was a pub entirely taken over by pikeys. In the late 1970s the pub was transformed into a pub / restaurant and extensively tarted up. However, don't be deceived by the grand exterior, for on a recent visit I found the place drab and dirty and with unhelpful staff. The one other customer informed me that the old elements had lately returned and lowered the tone of the place.' Report
Waddington Pubs : The Wheatsheaf pub in Waddington near Lincoln 'A fiendly local serving bar meals. Has a garden and a no smoking area. Photos of war-time bomb damage around the village !!' Report
York Pubs : Thomas's pub in York 'An impressive city pub from the outside but follows the usual modern pub / restaurant theme inside. Various areas for eating and drinking, including a family room. The pub is laid out on various levels with steps everywhere and the toilets are upstairs. Curiously, the left handrail on these stairs is not much over a foot in height and so does not comply with latest disability legislation.' Report
Navenby Pubs : Lion & Royal pub in Navenby near Lincoln 'A local boozer for sure, with an austere and empty atmosphere. Have a quick pint then make for the King's Head, if you can afford it !!' Report
Sidcup Pubs : Black Boy pub in Sidcup 'This has always been a friendly local on the few times that I have visited it. The landlord runs a good facility for his regulars and the odd student or two from the Greenwich Uni across the road. If it's a plastic paddy or some other theme bar you're after, then this isn't for you.' Report
London (SE) Pubs : The Beehive pub in London (SE) 'In all the year's of drinking in this area, I can't remember a time when this was a good pub. From the outside, with its various interesting architectural features and flower baskets, the 'Hive' looks to all the world like a Hampstead licensed restaurant but once inside the thirsty drinker is in for a shock. The place is dirty, bland, uninviting and staffed with unhelpful barpersons. Unfortunately, it is a mile-and-a-half walk to the nearest decent hostelry - The Rising Sun, Eltham (or perhaps The Black Boy, Avery Hill).' Report

Bromley Pubs : Scruffy Murphys pub in Bromley 'A typical Plastic Paddy with wooden seating, screens, and over-priced beer. Gigs a couple of nights a week.' Report
Orpington Pubs : The Cricketers pub in Orpington 'One of the better pubs in a town full of ropey boozers. Tends to be quieter than most as it is away from the High St. Once had a middle-class atmosphere and did a nice line in trout and chips - but that was long ago.' Report
Lincoln Pubs : Gate House Inn pub in Lincoln 'Haven't been in there yet as I've been told it's a bit dodgy. Noticed today a sign outside saying 'Under New Management'. Might be worth popping in for a pint - I'll report back when I've drunk the pint.' Report

In the last couple of years this has come to pass with the big screen brigade regularly trying to kill each other. Even the comfy sofas cannot make up for the strained atmosphere in this dirty and unfriendly boozer.' Report
London (SE) Pubs : Sun In The Sands pub in London (SE) 'A sad old boozer, seemingly in the middle of nowhere even though it borders on Charlton, Eltham and Blackheath. With the A2 rattling along outside and dodgy clientele inside this is a place to avoid.' Report

Maidstone Pubs : White Rabbit Inn pub in Maidstone 'This place is worth a 7 as a restaurant but only a 5 as a pub, hence 6 overall. Only poofed up yuppies need apply - if you're wearing normal clothes the doorman won't let you in. You might disturb the yuppies.' Report
Chislehurst Pubs : The Gordon Arms pub in Chislehurst 'Went into this pub a few months ago after several year's absence. Found it still incredibly quiet and full of aged men. An enigma in an area where pubs are full of lager louts and restaurants are full of yuppies.' Report
Chislehurst Pubs : Ye Olde Station Master pub in Chislehurst 'Formerly known as the Bickley Arms, this is a large echoing boozer without atmosphere (and little beer range). Famous for being the pub criticised on-air by a famous radio DJ about 30 years ago. Frequented by Bromley yobs who often resort to fisticuffs and knife-weilding outside(Imperial Arms close by).'
