Why they joined this site : "I like pubs but only like to go to good ones. I don't like watching Sky Sports and other distractions, I just like a good drink and the occasional pub meal."

This user has reviewed the following pubs:

Marazion Pubs : The Fire Engine Inn pub in Marazion
'My friend lives in Marazion so I go in this pub quite a lot when I go to visit her. There is a quiz on Monday nights and the pub is generally very friendly. There is a pool table on the left side of the pub and there is a bar in the middle that goes from left to right. There is also a jukebox. On the right hand side of the pub there is a great big picture window with spectacular views over St Michael's Mount. They serve food but I have never eaten there but the menu looks like fairly basic pub food. My boyfriend asks me to point out that the gents toilets are downstairs and you should be very careful on the way back up (especially after having a few) as there is a low ceiling and he and many others have come a cropper with nasty bumps to the forehead. Great pub although I believe it has changed hands recently and gone a bit downhill to say the least!'

Marazion Pubs : Kings Arms pub in Marazion
'My friend lives in Marazion so I often go to this pub whilst down there visiting her. It is a fairly small pub in the centre of the town. It serves good pub food and has some very adventurous dishes on the menu. The staff seem friendly and it offers a nice quiet place to have a drink during the day although it is a lot livelier during the evening. They have a quiz one night during the week (can't remember which night, sorry). There are tables outside if you prefer to eat your food outside rather than in - perfect on hot days and warm evenings. Marazion Pubs : Godolphin Arms pub in Marazion
'The Godolphin Arms is actually more of a Hotel and Restaurant but has a public bar. There are views from the bar over St Michael's Mount which are great. The bar area is furnished well and they serve pub food. The restaurant obviously serves a more adventurous and interesting menu although I have never eaten there. Pleasant enough for an afternoon or evening drink but nothing majorly exciting.'

Mullion Pubs : Mounts Bay Inn pub in Mullion near Helston
'This is a lovely pub with a large bar area and lots of windows at the rear to take advantage of the spectacular views over Mounts Bay. There are also tables in a beer garden to the rear. The pub serves food although we didn't try any. There are pool tables and a jukebox. The pub was generally friendly with a good mix of locals and holidaymakers. Went in a number of times whilst on holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to go in again.'

Mullion Pubs : The Old Inn pub in Mullion near Helston
'Very nice pub with tables outside to the front and the side. Inside it is very quaint with a lot of nautical ornaments as you might expect from a pub so close to the sea. The pub serves food although we didn't try any. The pub is nice and friendly and there was a good mix of locals and holidaymakers. The pub isn't too far from the coastal path so does get quite a lot of walkers in too.'

Goldsithney Pubs : The Crown Inn pub in Goldsithney near Penzance
'Went to this pub for lunch and found it to be a very nice pub with lots of tables and chairs outside at the front and two large bar rooms inside. The food on offer is better than pub food and, although a bit on the pricey side, is well worth it. There is a very good menu on offer with a variety of grills, steaks, chicken and fish dishes. There are also specials boards with plenty of different dishes altered on a daily basis. Great place to eat out.'

Greenfield Pubs : The Railway pub in Greenfield near Oldham
'This is an ace pub and, as the name would suggest, it is near the railway, near Greenfield Station. It is on the main road into Greenfield and there are bus stops in both directions (to Oldham or Uppermill) not too far away so you can get there without the car and have a beer! They have jam nights one night a week which are really good where the locals get up and play something or sing (think it's on Thursdays but not sure now). Very friendly pub with a jukebox for nights when there isn't any entertainment on. There is also a function room upstairs. I don't get the chance to go here that often but have had a beer here on the odd occasions on and off for years and this really is an ace pub. One of those pubs that doesn't change but doesn't need to because it has that thing that a lot of other pubs are missing.'

Grotton Pubs : The Grotton pub in Grotton near Oldham
'No, no, please don't bring back Morgan, he's far too old to be doing that sort of thing.'

Alrewas Pubs : The Swan Inn pub in Alrewas near Burton-On-Trent
'This is my favourite pub. Everyone is welcome here. Whether you are a narrowboat owner, on a narrowboat holiday, cycling or walking in the area, biker, angler, anyone is welcome. Children are also welcome to for the earlier part of the evening. The pub has three rooms, the one on the right is frequented by the locals more than anything, the one on the left is where people sit whilst they eat their food and off the back of this room there are steps down to the cellar area with more tables for people drinking/eating meals. The menu is quite basic but the food is fantastic. The specials board has some great food on it. There is bound to be something on the menu or specials board to please everyone. The food is well priced and you can pay for drinks with your food order with Credit or Debit card. The puh fronts onto the canalside and there are lovely views of the junction where the Trent & Mersey and Coventry Canals meet. In the summer you will find the area full of people and many bikers, walkers and cyclists and just general visitors to the area sat outside having a drink either sat at the benches or on the canal bank. The decor in the pub is very traditional with lots of canalware and other canal paraphernalia. This pub is ace. I don't mind telling you all about it because it gets hammered already so a few more people won't do any harm.'

St Ives Pubs : Union Inn pub in St Ives
'This is a great town centre pub that is frequented mainly by locals but also a few tourists (like me). Been here twice, once on a night out and once at lunchtime for something to eat whilst on a day trip to St Ives. The pub serves excellent food and there is a good menu plus other choices from many specials boards. There are plenty of fish dishes on offer although we opted for the traditional Cornish pasty and chips (our favourite you see). The staff are friendly and the pub is nicely decorated inside and there are even some sofas to sit on. There are loads of historical photographs on the walls of local fishing scenes and various sea-themed photographs. On a night out this is a great pub for a drink. We went to a few different pubs that evening so I don't know whether I would want to stay there all night. Would definitely go again though, recommended!'
