Hill Brow Pubs : The Jolly Drover pub in Hill Brow near Liss 'A very friendly atmosphere. I stopped here after a long walk from Haslemere, with two very tired out poodles. All three of us were made to feel very welcome (even by the regular drinkers - quite rare) and the staff were excellent. Will definitely return. Thank you.' Report
Twyford Pubs : The Phoenix Inn pub in Twyford near Winchester 'A very typical English pub. Both staff and drinkers very friendly. We stopped here for lunch after walking from Winchester and drank some lovely Speckled Hen and ate a brilliant roast dinner. Highly recommended to the discerning pub visitor.' Report
Haslemere Pubs : The Mill Tavern pub in Haslemere 'Absolutely fantastic. The new owner really knows how to make you feel welcome and the food is fantastic. Great beer as well. I can't say anything bad about the place. But book on a Sunday night as it's quite popular.' Report
Winchester Pubs : The Percy Hobbs pub in Winchester 'Interesting pub. It's right next to a camping ground and instantly fills with people from 12 - 2 for lunches. The Saturday I was there, there was only one barman and it took ages to get served. We had 3 different ales - not out of choice but rather the beer kept running out. Staff friendly enough though and the food was excellent and served quickly. I'd try again...but not around lunch time!' Report
East Worldham Pubs : The Three Horseshoes pub in East Worldham near Alton 'A nice friendly pub with a fantastic pressed metal ceiling. And in a wonderful setting. Nice range of beers. Haven't tried the food as the times have never been right - for me. Recommended.' Report
Alton Pubs : The Dukes Head pub in Alton 'Nice pub though not particularly welcoming. I have been a few times and the locals all go quiet and stare at you when you walk in - always a bit off-putting! Still, the bar staff are lovely and the beer great. It's nice sitting on the padded seat with the afternoon sun coming in across your shoulder.' Report
Farnham Pubs : The Marlborough Head pub in Farnham 'I'm afraid I have to agree with the previous comment. I went in for a quick pint one afternoon - big mistake! The place was full of 'dodgy' looking drunks watching the football. I was going to read my paper but thought I would stand out too much so left after quickly drinking my pint. A pity.' Report
Alfriston Pubs : Ye Olde Smugglers Inn pub in Alfriston near Polegate 'This is a fantastic pub. Great people, great beer (Harveys), great food. They were the victim of a hit and run recently and the hoarding round the entrance has been lavishly decorated. If you're walking the South Downs, definitely one to stop in.' Report
Polegate Pubs : Sussex Ox pub in Polegate 'Sitting outside on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, eating a steak and ale pie, sipping an ale, is as close to heaven as you can get. The views from the beer garden are magnificent. Although the pub is relatively new, it still has a good atmosphere. Staff very friendly as well. Highly recommended.' Report
Chichester Pubs : The Woolpack Inn pub in Chichester 'I haven't been to this pub for a few years but back in 2002 it was fantastic. A favourite haunt of us amateur archaeologists from Fishbourne Roman Palace. Food excellent, beer wonderful. Highly recommended.' Report
Woking Pubs : O Neills pub in Woking 'I think this is pretty typical for an O'Neill's pub - or so other people have told me. The beer is either Irish (no ale) or fizzy. The decor is excellent though and you feel like you could be somewhere in Ireland rather than the wilds of Woking (erk). The food servings are massive (especially the O'Neill's Burger) and not bad value. It's not a pub I'd choose to go to but you're not really spoiled for choice in the middle of Woking and the staff are friendly. It must be noted that I've never been here at night but, rather, at lunchtimes.' Report
Chiddingfold Pubs : The Rams Nest Inn pub in Chiddingfold near Godalming 'Fabulous pub. Full of old world charm and brilliant beer. Mind you, any pub that serves TEA on tap HAS to be pretty high on my list! I stopped here after a long walk and the staff were very friendly.' Report
Pett Pubs : The Smuggler pub in Pett near Hastings 'A lovely pub. Full of old world charm and little nooks and crannies. The landlord is always right, as dictated by the poster at the bar, so don't argue! They service the great Harvey Sussex Bitter so it's pretty much pub heaven. I didn't try the food but it looked (and smelled) pretty good.' Report
Ipswich Pubs : The Margaret Catchpole pub in Ipswich 'Not that keen on this pub. The wallpaper version of a Victorian tin ceiling is ghastly enough but the lack of any real ale just about did it for us. The Tetley's tasted of metal. Not recommended for the passing travellor, I'm afraid.' Report
Salisbury Pubs : White Horse Inn pub in Salisbury 'I cannot fault this pub. I dropped in for an early dinner one Friday evening. The food was excellent, the beer was 6X and the people were the friendliest I've ever met. You know when you walk into a strange pub and all the locals turn on their stools and give you the evil eye? Well, not here they don't - they recommend the food on the menu!!! Go here, it's brilliant.' Report
Haslemere Pubs : The Royal Oak pub in Haslemere 'An excellent pub with a very friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.' Report
Woking Pubs : The Wheatsheaf Hotel pub in Woking 'Great pub - serves 6x! Food is excellent and always served with a smile. Has become my work local.' Report
